Maybe fungus gnats but i'm not sure.

I've got a bunch of tiny 1 millimeter long white thin bugs on the surface of some of my plants soil. All they do is crawl and constantly jump around the surface of the soil. I'm thinking it's the larvae of Fungus Gnats because a week or so back I had some gnat like bugs flying around the grow area, but now they are all gone.

Also some of my plants bottom leaves are yellowing out starting at the tips and are growing slowly compared to the plants without this affliction. I've been trying to figure out the cause of this but it's been frustrating because while some plants are yellowing, other plants are thriving under the exact same conditions. I haven't fed any fertilizers to my plants so I'm thinking it's not nutrient burn unless the Miracle Gro Organic soil I'm using is messing with some of my plants. Or it could be that the mystery bugs on some of my plants are destroying their root system.

The soil that I am using.

Thanks Capn, I think they are thrips. I'm going to my local Home Depot asap to see if they carry Spinosad or any other product that kills thrips.

Fe (Iron) ........... Deficiency: Pronounced interveinal chlorosis similar to that cased by magnesium deficiency but on the younger leaves

Mn (Manganese) .......... Deficiency: Interveinal chlorosis on younger or older leaves followed by necrotic lesions or leaf shedding. Restricted growth and failure to mature normally can also result.

Trace minerals are very important... and it appears that your plants are lacking trace minerals such as Iron, Manganese, Calcium, etc. What I don't like about miracle grow is that essential nutrients are not listed so you don't know exactly what you are getting.

For the bugs? Try - Neem-oil. Probably the best one.It is made from the "neem-tree" It works against more than 200 different insects. It destroys the central nerve system off the buggs. When you spray it, it will leave a sorta "wax-layer" on the leaves, this will stay for about 2-3 weeks

I personally hate neem oil...no disrespect kittysecrets4u....but it's just nasty.

If you can find SM-90...it's a good product for foliar and a soil drench. It also makes a great wetting agent to mix with your foliar nutes.

Drink!
