MCOB LED? from cobgrowlights

Bob, can you share a link to a guide that you recommend for DIY? I'll test one out sometime just for my own entertainment. $15 is nothing compared to the tens of thousands I spend every few months so I'll give it a shot.

And to those who think I'm trying to promote something - not quite. I dont get any kickbacks for posting these things other than learning from you guys about the DIY LED space which I don't spend a lot of time in. Most of my colleagues buy USA made lights for their grows and laugh at me for not doing the same.

Thanks again for the info.
The links Bobby G gave should help. Look for threads by Growmau5 and Greengenes for DIY information. They also have YouTube channels under the same names. But I recommend the cheap $15 Bridgelux V22 COBs whereas they use only Cree COBs. Both have very similar output but one costs about 3 times as much as the other. I recommend Meanwell drivers like they use though, the HLG-240H series being the best value for the output, I recommend the 1050 ma one. You can run 6 COBs off it at about 40w each.

Thanks guys. I actually know Growmau5's channel for a while now. It looked too time consuming to do myself but I still like to watch his videos.

I recommended Growstar5 to Growthstar around a year ago to see if he would be interested in putting together a guide for Growthstar and try to get them to pay or sponsor his DIY projects + promote them. Ahhhh I totally forgot about this. That would have been cool. Both Growmau, another youtuber who I don't remember, and the Growthstar company were all on board on the idea.

But... I'm too lazy or busy to handle organizing this stuff and money doesn't motivate me. Maybe all the best RIU people should come together and make an online course. That would be awesome. RIU should give that away to all new members...

Who sells an already made "DIY" grow with those white COBs you are referring to? I saw the pacific light concepts, Amare, and a few others on rollitup.org but idk... Even their claims seemed off in some areas e.g. Amare claiming a certain spectrum was important yet they didn't even have it. I pointed that fact out to them and they didnt like it. I'm more specifically interested in seeing HD closeup shots of the roots, stems, leaves, and crystal formation of different plants under white light.

Also, are most of you growing straight under COBs or also supplementing with HPS? I'm a pure COB guy myself.

as far as RIU members, there are johnson, tasty, northern, pacific, cutter kits, and maybe a few others. all are very upfront and transparent about light output and expectations. They know their market well enough to know that their consumers are educated and wont stand for BS claims
