Metal halide and hps in one?

I found a Growzilla dual bulb air coolable reflector for $199.00. It mixmatches both metal halide and high pressure sodium in one ballast. Now, this sounds like a good idea to me but could use some advise. It says that it puts out up to 280,000 lumens. Thats awesome!! My question is, are the mh and hps together a good combination? I have never used both at the same time so I am up for any help. Or should I just purchase them separately and use them in different stages?

both mh and hps at the same time is allways more benifital for both stages, but it runs off two balasts sounds like a good idea to me

Yeah, thats why when I saw that its mh and hps in one ballast, it blew my mind. I got a magazine from eco enterprises and it had it in there. Check it out, they have some good deals it seems.

The ballast isn't the bulb. Electronic ballasts will run a MH or HPS bulb, but it doesn't convert the bulb into "both". If you're interested in dual spectrum bulbs, thats another story. . . .

Yeah, I know its not the bulb. The thing I was amazed with was that this ballast is made for one mh and one hps in the same ballast. Im looking at it right now and it has one mh and one hps on the other side. Look at the eco enterprises website and look it up. www.ecogrow.com

You know what man, just stop trying to give me advise because you dont comprehend what your reading or something. Im not trying to be mean but I didnt say anything about one bulb being mh and hps. If you look back, it clearly says, " in the ballast".

I have 2 of them for my 1000W lights. They are nice because if you switch from grow to bloom you can do this just by changing the bulbs and flipping a switch on the ballasts.

Good stuff!!

You know what dude? You asked for a vet grower, I answered. You got it though, I'll stop with the advice gladly, no argument from me, I don't see how you had a problem with my response. I said BULBS ARE A DIFFERENT STORY. Fuck yourself very much, good luck with your growing.

Im sorry, what does that say? I think it says "it doesnt convert the bulb into both" I guess I read wrong or something. Or maybe my computer changes the words up or something. Lol. I cant believe you dont understand what you wrote has nothing to do with what I said. Like im asking what a ballast is or like im saying that mh and hps are in one bulb. Just read a little caredully and you will get the question. Thanks for the attempt to hep though.

It sure is. Thats where the money would be in the ballast. The reflector is cool though. I dont think I want to buy just the reflector and have to buy the ballast seperate,

I am using 3 LUMATEC digital ballasts all compatable with both MH and HPS, don't even have to flick a switch, and the all have boost button's (for use with HPS only) not MH!! or the MH bulbs will blow out! much easier :) - STELTHY

Yeah I thought the same when I read it too, nice reflector BUT! it will most likely require two ballasts to fire up both MH and HPS at the same time in the same hood :) !! - STELTHY

i did read it right its just a hood that will run 2 bulbs but you will need 2 ballast if you do get 1 run a 600 hps and a 400 cmh youll love it and remember that cmh wont run of digi

Thats awesome. Thats exacttly what I need. How much do you have in it already? Just the ballast. I need to get on the ball and get another one myself. I think I will try the type you have because thats just awesome switching it from one to another.

I was afraid of that. It seems like a good idea until you get into buying the seperate ballast. They know how to word things right to try and trick you. I almost baught the thing. Its still not a bad price, its just not what I thought. Thanks for the info there man.

Dude, There's more parts in that than just the ballast... Now i can understand why the other dude is correcting u. When u say just the ballast it makes no sense, sense there are more parts to a kit and box then just a ballast. be more specific and accurate.
