mh bulbs

what is the easiest way to rig a small mh bulb for closet use?

does the closet have a shelf on the top or the bar you hang clothes on?

my grow is in a small closet and i put nice large i hook screws into the shelf and attached two small pulleys and hooked chains up to the hood, makes it really easy to raise and lower.

How small is the bulb? any pics of the space or of the light?

no i don't have a camera with me. its a 70 watt mh bulb got it from lowes. 3 plants all young.

try and find the light online and post a link so we can see what it looks like. is it only the light bulb or the whole ballast and light?

only the light bulb. I don't know how to rig something up, new at this whole thing Also will the same setup work for a hps bulb too. also 70 watt.

oh ok you need a ballast and the housing for the light bulb, i see what you were asking now, your asking how do you do all of that. i thought you meant how do you hang it in the closet. i would say return the bulb and get a grow light or at least a light and ballast. they also sell ballast kits online if you are comfortable with electrical wiring and such. like i said they dont cost too much for a bigger better light that is ready to go. search ebay and look at hydro stores and see whats best for you.

yeah all i have are basic hardware stores, lowes, etc. where might i purchase any setup i need.

those are kinda big for what i'm doing. unfortunately i have to keep it small

well anyways there are some 150w hps and mh on ebay, just type in 150w grow light. i just think buy the 400w because once you grow small your going to want to grow bigger and the amount for a 400 watt is like 100-150 and a 150 w is like 40-100 so therte pretty close in price and the 400 puts out a lot more lumens. but whatever you choose youll be glad, if your on a small budget just get a lot of cfls.

T5's may be the way for you.....

I have 3 plants all relatively small in a small grow space, what kind of cfls would you suggest

make sure they are *daylight* cfls, for the veggie. then you might have to use different ones later for flower

as many of the 23w or 40 something watt ones as you can fit in your grow space
