It's freaking uncanny how much like a muffler it looks.

I dropped off Bender to neighbor yesterday and told my idea of stash candy bowl in his stomach with little door.
He liked it and I think he is going to do something neat for the kids for Halloween.
I told him I got light socket and can wire his eyes/stash chamber up once he gets it done.
Sure hope he gets the guys in the shop to start fabricating. :eyesmoke:

Week 6 of flower from 4 week old clones. 1000 watt 4x4 hydro gro. Mostly GH nutes.. Roots are starting to get brown but i think they have a couple weeks in them yet.

Im a relative newcomer (2nd grow) so if anyones sees anything that screams red alert in the pictures feel free to educate me.

Looks good to me man.
Do you flush?
If you don't maybe some Cal-Mag would help those yellowing leaves.

Thanks Marty.. Yeah i actually ran some calmag the 2 and 3wk weeks then flushed for 24 hours then re up'd with some GH hard water micro. I might just hit them with another shot of calmag on the next res change.

There are actually two other plants (bubba kush and white berry) hidden down there on a perpetual grow only one week in flower.. So i have to really balance my nutes just right or it all goes to shit.. :(

White Berry can be berry berry good smooth smoke.

Haven't heard that name in a bit.

My hat's off to all of you hydro, etc. guys.
I have enough trouble with soilless and nutes.
I've heard it said that it is easier to work with;
But I've also been to the Dentist where he said it wouldn't hurt much...

I totally agree. I ran subs supersoil as well as synthetics in soil when I was in Cali, after I had perfected a flood table. My stuff in soil except for the last few batches in supersoil turned out nothing like the hydro buds. Hydro buds were monsterous and just as tasty with a proper cure as soil. I agree 100% hydro is less work than soil. And less dirty. Will throw up some pics later of my girls, going over soon.

My first crop started out in Dirt.. I did everything wrong you could do wrong. first thing i did was got a flat tire on the way home from picking up 12 clones in the middle of winter.. the second thing i did wrong was not being prepared at all. I didnt have any good soil so i dug some dirt up from the back yard (frozen dirt)..Did i mention i still didnt even have any Nutes at this time? When i finally got them under some lights (600w MH) i watched the weaker clones dye off one at a time until i was left with 6. Then i realized i had a bug problem (Spider Mites) So i sprayed some raid on them. that killed a couple more.. So then i decided that i could drop the clones in a grow box under s afew CFL's to save some money.. In the mean time i started shopping for a hydro setup.. I decided on the cap ebb and gro.. When the ebb and gro arrived i setup my original grow room for hydro. The clones did nothing in that box (still no nutes).. So i finally said F*** it and moved them back to the grow room and switched out the 600w mH for a 1000w HPS.. Getting desperate to see some movement in the plants i decided my dirt babies needed to be in water so i broke the dirt away from the roots (ugly little things) and replanted them in the Hydroton.. I registered on RIU got some tips on light cycles and water cycles and we were off to the races.. I eventually lost two more plants but not b4 they budded a bit and i got about a zip from each dried.. The last two remaining plants made it to maturity but did die a bit prematurely from root rot but still managed to harvest a cpl oz each from them.. This is my second grow with only two weeks left and i havent seen a single day where my plants were even the slightest bit stressed.. At this point it looks like im going to get about 2 to 4 oz per plant (5) with a fresh pair (2) that are under the same lights plugged in to the same res that are only about ten days old.. Of course the new clones are stretching like mad to reach the light thats on the cieling for the mature plants.. But its all good it was just an expierement anyways so if they dont make it nothing lost..

Lol im sure im forgetting some of the traumatic things i put my first babies through but that was a quick summery of how i got in to Hydro. :p

Love it - the story that is.
You have to learn to kill plants before you will learn to grow them.
Learning to grow is like fighting a War: the ultimate goal is Peace even if it doesn't make a lot of sense at the time.

That's a nice clear version of the lyrics of Stewarts classic, "Seems Like A Long Time".

Well I came up with a mounting scheme that safely saves me 4" of vertical over present system.
Here is the frame of the mount sans a few cross members I need to add yet for stability and alignment:

sixInchOcho-10.jpg

That is 1/8" thick 1-1/2" aluminum angle; so it securely holds the hood 1.5" from DensShield fireblock panel.

Next I need to design fan assembly for the airflow so it is 'pulled' instead of 'pushed'.
Not only is it good design, (as Huel taught me in the Super Spreader thread), to pull the air for the hood as opposed to pushing it;
I read somewhere that it is always better for fan to push cool air and pull hot air.
Something about hot air expanding...

So hoping for a weekend without problems to work on stuff at this point.
Had thought I would have it all done by now.
One thing that is nice is that I should have everything ready to bolt in once I get the time to do it.
So maybe I can get away without making a temp area for more than one lights out period.

A couple of shots of stuff mostly not named 'Marty'...:

bubba-10-12.jpglasVegasPurpleKush-10-12.jpgstrawberryDiesel-10-12.jpgfatMarty-10-12.jpg

Bubba Kush, Las Vegas Purple Kush, Strawberry Diesel, and the original - Fat Marty.

Finished up making the mounting system for my new hood.
It's pretty sturdy and I will probably add sidelight mounts to it once I get it in there.
The white braces are 1/4" thick fiberglass from a showerpan I had to cut off the other day.

I'm thinking of going lazy and making a 2-hour firewall by just covering old 5/8" greenboard that is up there now.
I was shooting for 3" extra height when I started this exercise; I'm at 4" right now.
I can live with 3-1/2" and easy.
Pictures at 11:00.

heyzeus marty, with that kinda of effort and vision
maybe you could consider production of
Official Fat Marty Ultra-Reflectors.

looks like it was worth the spine-shoulder pain flair...
now you are stronger.. custom hood kicks ass.

Thank You Abe for the flowers.
I sorta ran into problems...
I took the panda film down and remembered why I hung it up.
Ended up tearing out all the drywall yesterday.

Hope to get lid in today with hood.
Might not happen though.
I also found a 2" drain pipe behind my wall where I wanted to put 6" elbow for hood input air.
So much for bolting it right in ...

Oh yeah - I found another inch on the lid when I tore it down.
Was using metal studs and framed the rafters down for a water line.
That bad boy is getting rerouted as well.
So I can cut the 1" lid runners out.

I'm looking at gaining 5" now.
I can't believe it; but I'll take it all day.

Oh Yeah - got a good look at Bubba Kush Reverse yesterday and she looks just like Bubba.

We have to grow a room full of weed for the Hash Bash.
It's true. I read it on the Internetz.

So I started some seeds not named Kid Rock!
I don't want to talk about it.
Besides - he endorsed Romney; so...
Maybe next grow.
Where you at Rock; where you at?

So I decided to run some beans and see what happens.
I got these 8 and a Fat Stomper-13 going for the great event.
I forgot to take a picture of Fat Stomper-13; but trust me it's real.

Seedlings at 10 days just before transplanting to 2 gallon pots:

Fucking GigaByte: They went and made the perfect motherboard for tinkerers.
Now I feel a need to build this concept image I made:

GigaBitchII.png

I ordered the computer case and the little monitor for the front of it.
I'm going to play with case work before I move in; so it could be a while before I got it ready for motherboard, etc.
I would like to add some accent lighting; but I want it indirect if I do.
Also the little monitor has two video inputs; so I am going to put a night vision backup cam inside to watch things!

Why this motherboard now?
It set the World Record for CPU speed at 7.1 Gig.
It is designed by manufacture for overclocking - they put switches and buttons on the motherboard to overclock.
It is built to military specs, and can take up to 2000 watts input.
It has onboard MSATA for SSD which basically turns your main hard drive with OS on it into memory.
Practically instant access to the SSD.
Best of all Intel unlocked the 3rd gen I7 CPU's so they could be overclocked naturally.

I'll poast more as I have something to show.
Anyone else build their own dream machines?
