Minimum age for legal marijuana should be 25, public health agency says

Ottawa's public health agency believes the minimum age for buying legal marijuana should be set at 25, according to a submission it sent to the federal task force examining what legalization will look like in Canada.

The submission, sent earlier this summer and to be tabled before the Ottawa Board of Health on Oct. 17, includes some 33 recommendations on minimizing harm, establishing a safe way to produce and distribute marijuana, accessing marijuana for medical purposes and ensuring public safety.

The minimum age of 25 is in line with recommendations offered up already by the Centre for Addictions and Mental Health as well as the Canadian Medical Association.

OPH also suggests the minimum should be Canada-wide and "must be coupled with rigorous enforcement and penalties for violations in order to be effective."

Minimum age to kill should also be 25(as in war's)

If 25 is gonna be the age for cannabis, a substance that has not had a single death attributed to in in it's history of use, what do they plan to do for alcohol? Booze is a major contributor to youth violence, and accidental death. Let's bombard the task force and other politicians with the demand they use a realistic and fair approach to deny rights to adult Canadians. Either they raise the drinking age to 50, or lower cannabis use to those 19 and over.

My cousin suffered a lot from that stuff. Wound up stunted growth, then had to be put on HGH or he was gonna be like 4' nothing for the rest of his life. Anyway.

I like Canadians that know the difference between legal and lawful.

17 actually. Thats how old i was when i did basic.

You can't fight at 17. You can get get training but you have to be 18 to go into combat iirc
