miracle grow soil

i bought some for flowers and veg for some clones i got that were from a clone making thing so they were just roots. is the miracle grow soil to filled with nutrients for fresh clippings, the bag said no need for nutrients for 3 months. clones dont look so good. thanks for any input.

Please newb, stop spreading information prior to any investigation; it is false. btw, welcome to RIU.

MG is perfectly fine. Don't over water, ensure you pH your water to 6.3-6.5 and you will be perfectly fine. 3 months is too long for no nutes. Start feeding nutes at a 1/4 dose somewhere around week 4, and slowly ramp it up to full dose from there.

My first indoor grow was in MG, and I yeilded a 1/2 pound from three plants (that were heavily stressed I might add).

i use mg soil for all stages.... never have i had burning of any kind...or a deficiency

Hey - jumping in on the conversation here. I use MG Moisture Control and I've had no troubles. I've had a lot less fungus gnats for starters because it uses coir and not peat. And it holds water longer than peat which is plenty more forgiving. Add to that it's relatively cheap and available wherever there's a Lowe's or HD. I'm not sure of the PH and know that can be an issue but it's working so I'm not going to worry about it. I'd add too that I only use rainwater as I have a rain barrel so that's another parameter to consider I guess. All-in-all >> the plants like it.

I was wanting to ask about MG but didn't because alot of ppl only have bad things to say about MG. (more than half Probly never actually used it). Thinking about buying some and trying it on some freebies I have. Maybe even try 12/12 from seed. I have used MG in the past and did have some issues (mainly Ph related) but it was back when I didn't have a Ph meter. I think I'll have better results this time around.

Miracle grow blows! the little balls of fertilizer all break down around the same time dropping the PH of the soil to a VERY low PH. This is all from personal experience

Is there a cheaper more available soil that u would recommend? I'm interested in finding a cheaper soil that works good.

If you have to go maracle grow go maracle grow for seedlings. This will give you more control on the ferts. I have used maracle grow ferts in my flood and drain table with no problems.

If you add garden lime/for some reason everyone calls it dolomite lime. Same thing. You will maintain your PH through the grow as it releases ferts.
It will grow a plant OK but will not maximize the potential of the plant.Plenty good for someone getting started in growing wanting to grow some of their own weed to smoke on.
Just put you in some garden lime get you some nutes and feed them lightly around week 4 would be a good starting point.Always add garden lime to soil before you start your run and you will be good.If you want to advance latter on with soil you can go start reading over in organics and they have some great soil mix's you can use.

MG works... If you are not an IDIOT....
I use MG with my clones, 50% seedling starter soil, 25% perilite, and 25% vermiculite.... [I clone old school way with Dixie/Solo cups and upside down humidity cups on top]
With all soils I buy, I amend. When you transplant, add also perilite, and or vermiculite, it makes the soil 'lighter' and gives roots room to roam around the pot...
Since you are already using MG, and have invited the anti MG crowd with this thread, just ignore the haters....

Like max said, you can mix your own soil, a lot of folks think its hard but its not. I'm definitely not and expert and probably forgot a bunch of stuff but I made some using potting soil and a little of this and that, long story short the plant in my soil looks way more healthy than the one in ocean Forrest (not knocking it) but my mix was way cheaper. besides its fun and you know what's in it.

This beautiful 4' White Widow from my last crop is my personal experience with MG soil. I didn't suffer pH problems whatsoever. I was just very diligent (as one should be in ANY medium) to pH properly (6.3-6.5).

I use the seed starter for seedlings and clones with great success. Once I transplant, I prefer a neutral mix so i can control the nutes. I mix cheap potting soil (compost is the only "nute" in it), peat moss, perlite (not MG) and vermiculite. I add in 2 T of dolomite lime per gallon of mix.

Then I use the DynaGro line of nutes. Works great for me!

Can I find garden lime at HD?

Use Mg - Get the blue bag - Moisture Control - less fungus gnats (they only like peat) and plants can go longer before watering. Actually - you have to be a bit careful if using for a seedling because it gets a bit too moist imo. Start out in a peat plug and then pot up to the MG Moisture Control. And no ferts till flower. And no sleep 'till Brooklyn - either.

I have used Miracle Gro for years with no issues! I also do not flush and have never had any issues. Miracle Gro out performs every other soil and that is the truth. If you want to make it even better, add in a little epsom salt, calcium nitrate, and then the lime. People who hate on Miracle Gro are straight up talking out of their asses plain and simple. I do like the moisture control and recommend it.
