mix

i have a lot of john inness seed compost left mixed with perlite & dont want to wast it, can i mix another brand of compost into it, as i dont want to buy john iness potting as it has a very lot of sand in
i will be growing peppers & tomatoes

Sure. There's nothing wrong with it, just measure your nutrient levels in the JI mix to know where you stand. Testers are cheap, some more accurate than others, but at least you will have an idea of what you're working with. Add other media based on what you see. It's your soil now! Find what works best for you. Just make sure it has some good organic matter in there and lots of nice, fluffy perlite, vermiculite, etc.
