What strains are good for depression, anxiety, etc? High THC, High CBD or High CBN? What strains seem to make it worse? No matter what people say, for me, some strains HAVE caused a worsening of depression though im not sure if its from a mix of drugs as I take some pharmaceuticals as well, namely, an SSRI and Abilify.

I know where you are coming from here. Breaking it down to THC, CBD, CBN and THCV is not really going to help you much. There are many more compounds in cannabis that influence it's effect on the mind. One has to start looking at stuff like terpene profiles also. Then there is the consideration of personal body chemistry. We are all affected differently by different things. I 'suffer from' Aspergers and have been diagnosed bi-polar so I am VERY aware of these effects on myself. There is a lot of reefer, particularly new school herb, that does not suit my mind at all, Sativa or Indica. A mate of mine went full-on psychotic smoking only Nightshade for a few weeks. Serious panic attacks that eventually required medical attention. Going stone cold sober for only 3 weeks sorted him out hand had him toking more healthily again.

So from a completely anecdotal standpoint as this is my own experience alone:

Firstly, it is a lot about dose. Reefer these days is very potent. Most herb that makes you uneasy can be very pleasant if you toke less of it. I have grown strains like the NYCD that more than a third hit is silly. They are lovely and delicious so you want to finish that joint, but sample them hit by hit and find your personal threshold. The days of needing a whole joint are LONG gone.

Mostly, Indica is to be avoided. I say mostly because there are some sublime Indies of course. But most of them sit uneasily with me in a big way. It is like a slow, creeping discomfort, and if pushed too far can feel like slight psychosis.

Be very careful with OG's. Some of the more vicious ones can have a very negative effect between sessions too, like a very 'down' feeling after it's worn off and on waking up. I have seen them bring on instant paranoia a few times too. I love them but handle with care.

All my favourites so far are Sat-leaning hybrids, and some pure Sats. That's where I would recommend to start looking from my perspective. Just develop an awareness slowly of how different kinds affect you. If you get some herb, try and research the parents and grandparents used in the crosses a bit too. This will help you get a picture of what lines are likely to suit you and help your decisions with purchasing bud and seed and increase the odds of finding a winner every time.

My last bit of advice is: BE FULL OF SHIT ABOUT WHAT YOU SMOKE. Set a standard for effect and don't settle for anything less. Communicate your preference to your supplier, it will help them advise you on the choices you have a lot better. After a little while, you end up having only what you want and need out of your herb. Choice and variety is so huge that it does take quite some time. Unless you find a solid and reliable supply of something you like, like in that tent you have in the spare room/attic/basement ;)

Acapulco Gold is good for anxiety, pure sativas are good if you don't smoke a lot at once. Higher CBD helps with anxiety as it produces a mellow and focused high. Strains that smell like lemons and other citrus are good for depression due to them possessing the terpene limonene. Hope you can find the right medicine. :-)
