Molasses and variants of at the store

So I occasionally will use a little molasses in my grows and finally used up my bottle that lasted me a very long time. Grandma's Unsulphered is what I had used and often see cited as a go-to brand to pick up. Today I was at the grocery store and figured I'd pick up a bottle to have on hand for the next time I needed it.

What I found was that there was 2 versions of the Grandma's brand. One is the usual product but the other is listed as "robust" and when examining the label to see if I could note any real difference and reason to use it or more importantly to avoid it I noticed that it was a little richer in the Ca, Mg, Fe and just looks like it's a less diluted product.

So I decided why not try it. Anyone know anything about the pros/cons of this "robust" version? I liked that it was higher in the very same inputs we'd see people using Ca-Mh supplements for and especially the Fe. It was also a little higher on the potassium, etc.

Actually checking their site now, I might have had it backwards. ;-)

The question still remains, would one be of more benefit over the other?

I doubt it makes much of a difference at all. Molasses does very little for the plants actual nutrition anyway; the idea is to provide soil microbes with a form of sucrose so they stay healthy and focus on procreation rather than looking for food. You could also dissolve raw brown sugar, honey, and/or maple syrup in water; works the same way.

I had also considered just getting sucrose/dextrose as that's the main ingredients in one of the NFTG products anyhow. I don't use it very often, maybe a dash in a tea or a watering to boost the microbes. The Fe is sort of what interested me really but in soil that should be at sufficient levels anyhow (i.e. why I use Big-6 instead of TM-7).
