Molasses while 'cooking'?

Would it be beneficial to add unsulphured blackstrap mollasses to soil while 'cooking' it? Adding it in late flower seems kinda too late to me. Wouldn't feeding those carbs to the microherd prior to planting anything speed up the cooking process n be more beneficial, or am I confused about how all this works lol?

That was a great read thx for the link dia
not really. You don't want the microbes feeding on the molasses instead of the amendments.
Didn't really think about it like that but that's a good point. I guess n my head I thought it would increase their activity, but what's in my head n what's actually happening tends to vary a little :P So it would probably just compete with the ammendments as a food source n be counterproductive then?

You could.... I tend to agree with hyroots point though.

What would be best is to brew a compost tea and wet your soil down with that.

Alright sounds like a plan - thanks Sto. Got a bunch of amendments on the way from buildasoil and a couple amazon vendors, and also picked up some composted cow manure from a local store - can't wait to get away from the pre-mixed soils and start making my own ;) My first run I kind of 'made' the soil, but started with a pre-mix as the base and then amended it further. Next time through the idea is to start from scratch so to speak...curious to see what kinda results that provides

Your best bet would be to water with lab (lactose bacillus). It will help break down the organic material quicker while building the soil life.

Best thing I ever did was switch to living amended soils. Love it! All the hydro store guys also said you'll never beet the yields But I have just hit .7 gpw on my new soil mix. .5 or .6 with synth. This was my first run so I can only get better. With practice.

Just am so stoked with TLO. Feels like a found some secret. Wish I had looked into it like 6 years ago.

O but on molasses. I think best use is in teas. I won't pretend to be any pro but that's how it's working fr me. I use 1 tbs/ g through week 6 12/12. Then just 1 teas / gallon through finish.
