Mold Harvest, is it lost?

Alright this sucks with the weather that has been going around and with me not being able to get the humidity down in the house, i lost more then half my harvest.

Been picking the colas all the buds tryign to remove all the mold before it spreads, trying to save the nugs i have with no mold on them. Should i be ok if i pull off all the mold, and now there drying out agian in brown bags. ??

Is the mold bud trash or can i freeze it and make hash from the tichs oh them??

How bad is mold to smoke? stupid question i believe but i really dont know

Look into water curing. Some claim that it renders moldy buds smokable. I've done it on good weed just to try and it tastes like shit, but the high seemed the same as air dried bud. Don't know if it truly makes moldy bud 100% safe, but worth a few minutes reading.

i have tried the water cure before ended up with mold buds they smelt like shit but i might have done something wrong. i seam to do that allot

I would personally just get rid of it all, even though you do not see the spores on other nugs they are there. You can always grow again, its not worth the posable case of some weird ass sickness.

Today i put all the harvest into one big jar packed it in closed the lid less air, should help.

Put all the Moldy buds i am finding into ziplock then the freezer for hash later, good idea ?

got pictures? fuck moldy bud, sell it dont smoke it or just throw it out your car window haha.. you can get a bad infection in your lungs and it could do more damage to you

Don't smoke the moldy buds or leaves. By all means get some bubble bags and make hash out of it.

dude throw that away that mold will mess yours and someone elses lungs completely.we live and learn believe me i done it in my beginning days next time keep a closer eye on it when drying and curing hope that hepls

Thats what i am worried about dont want mold in your lungs shit is almost impossible to get rid of.

Yea this is my second harvest first one was nute burn/ light bleach, this one was mold grrrrr

i had some hindu kush plants that got over taken by powdery mildew. like like a xmas tree. i just kept letting them go. anyway i cut and cured the plant. when they were ready i gave it all away to some gang bangers. hoping it would get them sick. it didnt. they just got high on some free weed.

pull em, dry em as fast as possible. forget about smooth sweet smoke. get it dry, trim the really moldy areas.<all of this AWAY from your grow area. still may have a good stone to it. then completely sterilize your entire grow area, walls/ducts/hoods and at least give the rest of the house/surroundings a good cleaning and spray of lisol. mold is wicked good at popping its head up givin the chance.

Its not powdery mildew i dont believe, the plants have already been cut down. I noticed the mold second day of curing so i started drying agian after picking out the mold, dryed for another 4 days in brown bags. Now the buds are curing agian.

Still not sure its a toss up Poll is close. I will be checking them agian tomorrow morning.

One idea is to segregate the moldy parts and either make hash with them or trash them --- but then you still have the possibility of spores being on the rest, and smoking mold spores is MAJOR bad mojo!!!!!

Another possible solution (which I used with no ill effects when I encountered the same issue on a previous outdoor grow, ) is to take ALL of the harvest, spread it out on a tinfoil-lined baking/cookie tray and put it in the oven at around 170 - 180 degrees for about 10 minutes (NO longer!!!). This will kill any mold spores and totally stop the spread of it, plus it will make everything safe to smoke. The downside is that it will probably result in some harsh weed that tastes like shit --- but it'll still stone the shit out of you. The trick is to raise the temp high enough to kill the spores yet not high enough to fuck up the THC/Trichomes.

If all else fails, make hash out of it, but DO NOT smoke moldy weed!!!!!! It can cause all sorts of respiratory issues (not saying it WILL, but it definitely can!!).

Grrr just checked on the jar and before i took anything out i could see the spread just in one day.

Its killing me to do but i will be trashing everything, no hash nothing. Looking at the nugs today i can see that the mold attaches to the trichomes first then spreads from there. On allot of trichomes you could see that there was something going on weird look compared to what you normally expect.

Since that happened i would think even hash would be tainted with the mold even if it didn't spread and grow more it would still be in the hash.

Sucks hope we all learned from this I know i have, for the newbies out there that get mold buds at least they have a Thread now.

Before you trash it all, look into Butane hash making. Don't have info on it and never did it myself but I would assume that would kill all mold and spores. There should be plenty of info about it on the boards...just would hate to see you go empty after all that work.

I will look into it but it just keeps getting more mold every day. Thank you for directing me to that way of hash.

It may be too late to give this advice now, but rather than trash weed for WHATEVER reason, it's better to get some isopropyl alcohol (any grocery or drug store, the higher % the better) and put the weed in it's current state into a jar with enough alcohol to cover it and lightly shake, shake, shake.

There are plenty of threads on it (google "iso hash"). The end result will depend upon your method - more time will provide a larger amount of product of lesser quality and vice-versa.

Bottom line, it will extract the good stuff from the bad stuff. For anyone researching this thread in the future, look up a reputable thread on google. No need to trash your stash.
