Alright i'm torn between three types of lighting all at htgsupply. I need a mom and clone light other than wall world shoplight (using now). I was looking at the 150 hps 16,000 lumens , 4 lamp t5 2 footers 8,000 lumens, and a 50 watt blue led panel unknown lumens. My gut tells me the hps cuz i can see what my 400 does. Then t5's and leds are unknown to me anyone have any info and experience with them i'd really like to save watts but i dunno if its worth it. tell m what you think. Current grow Big Bang, KC Mango, Grobama, and I have Big bang Mango Passion 1 Strawberry COugh moms

Hey man, for just vegging plants, metal halide is much better than hps. I would refine your options to:

150w MH
4x T5
LEDs (I wouldnt go with panels unless they have high wattage led bulbs which makes this option quite pricey)

With MH you're going to have really fast veg growth, (i'd go with a cooltubed 250 myself), but if you dont need massive amounts of clones for a perpetual grow, maybe to minimize the power bill you should go with the tube floros or a legit led setup (the 50w Procyon mini should be coming out soon for a bit cheaper).

:peace: out.

T5s for the proper color spectrum, low heat, and low power. Plus, the wide, flat profile of the tubes should work well with the wide, flat profile of your clone trays.

I tried ordering the flatpanel t5's in Jan and they were on back order until Mar or Apr. The HTG and Sylverstar bulbs sit in a V shape and the ballast sits in the middle of the V. The Growbright is flatpanel with the ballast at the end and is the one on backorder atleast as far as I know. Call them before you make plans and make sure they got what ya want. I ended up changing my whole lighting plan on the phone with them based on what was in stock at the time and what would take longer then I could wait for. I ended up with a 400 mh conversion bulb for now but I want and voted the flatpanel t5's for mothers/clones.
