i am in an area where moose are running buckwild. i went out earlier today for my bi-weekly watering event...and a moose ripped 6 of the 2 footers out of the ground. How do I repel moose? and does anyone else have this problem? i know that deer are easily scared off with blood meal but was told the only detterant for moose is wolf urine or a 50 cal. any suggestions?? if this is true, where do i get wolf urine? bc wolves are not native to southern new england.

That's awesome. Don't hurt the things though. I'd use some netting myself, but you can probably find some coyote/dog piss at hunting stores like cabelas, bass pro shops, etc.

For sure they have to have a repellent of some kind, or i like that netting idea too. You sure that moose wasn't just trying to enjoy your herb? lol

I think moose may be one of those things that just makes growing unworkable. Kinda like growing on a submarine.

The one idea I have is to string strong wire(not barbed) every which way around the garden, about eighteen inches off the ground. Get creative trying to frighten them.

They'll feel trapped as they run into one wire after another, and may avoid the area altogether. All theory, but that's the best idea I have.

Even moose who haven't seen a wolf in fifty generations still know that trapped feet lead to being eaten.

Instead of making a steel spider web, why not just put up some fencing? I'm pretty sure a moose isn't going to ram through a fence(but i have seen some weird things)

Last year, unbeknown to myself, I planted seven plants right ontop of a bear den!!! Luckily for me it was indeed a momma bear but her last cub had passed away inside of the den and Mother Bear was not "moving on". I was very worried that she would want to eat my gurls after a while to about a 1/4 mile away we set up a couple buckets of hunny that was just irressistable to a weaping momma bear. Once she was out of her den we posted up around the plot and ran camo painted chicken fence. As further measure we laid out tampons of LION URINE, and ever since then momma bear has went into the wild. I personally, use a combination of measures to deterre wildlife that can potentially harm my girls. Everything from Irish Spring soap, to moth balls, to neem oil, to lion urine-human urine, to chicken fencing and night time motion cameras( see whats around). I believe I go above and beyond the call to assure my gurls saftey, and my measures prove well year after year. I also spray lion urine all over myself and spray it all over the place on my way out and back from my gardens. I havent seen wildlife around my sites for a long time. I know its invassive, but I utilize the face that prohibition is ASWELL SURPRESSIVE against humans as it is mother nature. This planet is a meer victim of a civilized prohibition on humans and more importantly nature.

Yeah its certianly not a great tactic for winning over the ladies, but its a sure bet against not getting attacked by large mammals in the woods! Furthermore, it scares them away for good. I dont recommend a will farrel move and ingesting it, but I do spray it on my upper clothing and my lower clothing.
