ORLANDO, Fla. —
A mother was caught on surveillance choking her 11-month-old child six times while she was in her crib at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Florida Hospital South, according to an Orlando Police Department incident report.
Police said 21-year-old Alexis Felton choked her baby repeatedly, and the child is heard on the video choking and grasping for air and trying to cry as she lay in her hospital crib.
During the sixth attempt to strangle the child, the baby loses consciousness and goes limp, according to the report.
Nurses were alerted when the monitor alarm went off because of the baby losing consciousness. The staff was able to save the baby.
The report also states that when nurses entered the room, Felton said, "She's having another episode."
Detectives said hospital staff called police who arrived at the scene, questioned Felton and then arrested her.
Police said that Felton initially stated that she had done nothing wrong, but eventually admitted to the crime, saying she didn't want her child to suffer, and that she was sorry.

Post partum depression maybe? Also if she's on prescription drugs, some are known to cause psychotic breaks.

The question that obviously needs to be answered is, was the baby "approaching" her or more to the point "aggressing" the mother? Did the infant make a noise in an attempt to initiate conversation? In those circumstances it did give up it's right to self defense.

Kidding aside, that is one sick bitch.

Munchhausen by proxy...mental disorder whereby the adult gets attention by association with a 'sick' kid
