Motherfuckers messing with my wife...

My wife is a good hard worker, and that's simply not enough for the attention-whoring, low self esteem having, immature cry babies that she works with/for. They tell her how good her work is. How diligent, and professional she is. She's just not enough of a social butterfly for them.
In a nutshell. Until she starts hitting the bar with them, she'll never fit in.
My personal opinion is that she isn't dirty enough for them. They all sit around playing in the sandbox together, hurling dirt all over each other and she's sitting there squeaky clean. Her job is not in jeopardy simply because she's a fantastic employee. She's just not everyone's friend. Now I'm pissed because I feel like they're harassing her. Fucking needy bastards.

That sounds like bullshit.. Just because you work somewhere doesn't make you have to be super social long as the job is done good and cust are happy.

Hey, I know how that is. Office gossip and the office mill (it's even worse in beauty salons, I was a manicurist out of high school) and the people who love the play those games absolutely DETEST those of us who don't (love playing those games). They'll be nasty and snarky and snub her, just because she won't mix business with pleasure. My advice to her is to keep it that way, these are not people she likely wants to know on a personal basis.

It seems like everyweek she get's a new reminder that sticking to herself is the right play. Jealousy, and backstabbing is no stranger to the stories she tells me. Most of the people go to the food court and drink coffee, or go shopping for four hours during the middle of the day. These people are the least productive people on the planet. Socializing with each other IS more important than getting the job done.

She is BY FAR the best employee they have. If she keeps going like this. She'll have a high ranking position in no time. It's just these needy idiots trying to undercut her.

Right. We've been married for 16 months. We're too busy enjoying each other's company to be concerned with how miserable there lives are.
My wife is 26...going to a bar with a bunch of 40 somethings who despise there own lives is about as exciting as watching paint dry.

stays relevant.
if she doesn't want to see them, tell her to explain it like I explain it...

"look, im not here to make friends with you... besides, i see enough of you during the day. thanks anyhow"

Yeah, so she makes them feel guilty. It's really shitty that it's often that the supervisors are too close with their employees and also share in that bullshit. Otherwise, those not engaged in it wouldn't have a reason to care about it.

I think she's said that before...but it's still a problem for them. She went on a business trip in April. The worked an 8 hour day. Drove to toronto which is a 3.5-4hr drive, and they were upset that she didn't want to have drinks with them that night after being around them for 12 hours straight. The really have
some hardcore social deficiencies at work here.

Yeah...she's getting this from the General Manager. Like dude how warped can this place be that the man in charge is scolding someone for lack of participation? But you're right...he's one of those supervisors who's way too close, and enjoys all the extracurricular shit that goes on in the office. Makes him feel both important and liked at the same time.

Sorry but the corporate ladder is lubed with many a human fluid, it takes a certain kind of person to climb the ladder. Being an amazing worker just doesn't cut it, it's truly who you know, not what you know.

If you work amazingly, but the whole f8cking workforce hates you, you will not go far at all in that position / company.

IMO

Global Corporations suck major c8ck,

p.s yes I work for one :(

It really depends where you work, and how committed your employer is to developing an appropriate corporate atmosphere. It all starts at the top.

Wow, so they're really pressuring her to engage in what amounts to drinking parties after work, eh? COMPLETELY inappropriate. The problem is, she may need to show face once in a while, just to show she has "the team spirit". If she does decide to participate very occasionally, she might want to consider getting virgin drinks (being almost a full-on teetotaler actually has its benefits ;) ). Thusly, she "fits in" without doing anything that could actually compromise her position.

And now that I'm thinking about it, it's even more sticky than what you're conveying, isn't it? I envision these people tying one on after they're finished working. That means that they know things about each other that, by all rights (by all that is my definition of "proper") they shouldn't know, and maybe don't want to. This is the shit that leads to office affairs. This is the shit that leads to public break-downs and other various and sundry unsavory moments.

Good for her for being able to put up with it (I can't, couldn't and usually ended up walking off jobs when things got sticky like that).

I can think of probably 4 events we've attended together over the last few months alone. She's around...she's just not what you would classify as a buddy. You're right...there is a lot of inappropriate office behavior. Just from what my wife tells me , and deductions i've made on my own I know these people know pretty much all there is to know about one another.
They essentially want her to walk in and hurl everything on the table and allow them to rumage through her life. Which is something that isn't going to happen.

Thing is the person she works directly under loves her. Probably couldn't get a damn thing done without her. The step ladder is nice and firm. It's the
taller ladder where things get a little slick.

Thank god I work in a sales position, all that matters is making that green. Office politics are at a minimum.

I would just tell them to fuck off, maybe even consider filling a harassment suit if they don't stop.

Fucking GOOD FOR HER! Yeah, exactly what I thought. Sounds like a dysfunctional family, doesn't it?

That's exactly what it is. Everyone loves each other and hates each other all at the same time. To be honest...I think they're more of a family amongst each other than they are with there biological families.

I told her it was 100% harassment. If she wasn't doing her job I could understand. But this has no merit whatsoever.
