I would think it would be best if it was composted even a little

Pile it up and let it cook itself for a bit, then I would try it.

Yancey.... DO NOT USE THE MOUSE SHIT..... Mice are the vectors (fancy word for carriers) of numerous - VERY BAD - diseases.
.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Death
.
Above is a link - READ IT - especially Plague Migration (I'll give you a hint - the carriers of this - worst of all diseases - what not a bunny, a bat, a worm or a cow).
.
Cow, Bats, Worms & Bunnies do not carry diseases which are easily transfered to human.
.
Before someone shouts - Mad Cow Disease - remember it was a man made disease - caused by greedy cattlemen, who feed dead / weak / diseased cows (ground up) to other cows in their feed.
.
DO NOT USE MOUSE POOP.........
.
Keep it Real..... Organic .... but within reason.......

Yancey.... You are correct, the fleas - did pass the disease. They rode on the mice (transportation / food source) and later jumped off and bit humans.
.
The source of the disease was the mice, the fleas bit these mice drawing tainted blood from them. Everytime you brush your teeth, your gums bleed (ever so lightly) everytime you take a dump (blood leaves in your stool - again ever so lightly).
.
Now mice don't brush their teeth, but since the same holds true, when dropping a load for mice - I'd steer clear of the mouse poop...

I'm gonna try mouse shit as a fertilizer. You wont get diseases from smoking the weed, and if the mice eat a vegetarian diet then nothing bad will pop out of their rectums. Domestic mice are as clean as you keep them, If you change the bedding regularly and dont breed them with wild mice they mice will stay healthy.

Mouse shit for the win!

Did you try it in the end Yancey?

just what MAD above me said.

but I want to add - mice shit is VERY concentrated. it can burn the crap out of plants.
USE JUST A TINY BIT!
half the amount you use guano is a nice start.

composting it before using it helps breaking down the concentration and removes some worries about diseases.
vermicomposting it removes some more of those.

Mice are vegetarian, so no reason why mouse poop should not be used - but rot it well. Strikes me one mouse won´t do a lot though, LOL.
