Moved to new house....mold everywhere!!!

Hey everyone! I'm not a pot grower but my friend told me this would be the place to ask for some help. If i posted in wrong section my apoligies to whomever i piss off.(didnt mean to)I grow orchids and just got into bonsai trees. I just bought a 6 yr old japanese red maple. I love it. I recently moved into a new duplex. And ever since my indoor plants seem to get very moldy. Now ive tried a dehumidifier a fan and cleaning the grow area with bleach. i have yet to try burning sulfar since i do not have a place to take my dog for 8 hrs. So i was talking with my buddy and he said alot of pot growers build cabinets to grow in. Now im wondering if any of you would be willing to help me design a cabinet that keeps mold out. I've read into the cabinets and i do not need big lights or air filters. Since my plants dont stink lol. But i was wondering if there was a way to keep the mold spores from entering and attacking my plants. I will only be bringing in cuttings from my orchids and keeping them inside over winter and a special section for my Bonsai. Heres the measurements for the area i chose. 24" D x 67"H x 42" W. Now any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh and almost forgot im going to be building it with atleast plexi windows to see my plants...

as long as it isn't coming through the walls to them you only have 2 problems

1) make sure the intake system has a fliter
2) make sure you dont track them in

Well thats the problem. I'll admit imma pussy so I refuse to get up n the attic to look and this isnt my place so i cant tear into walls. So i cant tell if they are comin thru walls. But when i was cleaning a few minutes back on the window seal there was a black substance. Looks like was cleaned but not completely. So im going to assume this is a mold haven. I have 6 mos to stay and im moving. Ne ideas on cleaning the carpets and a/c vents for next to nothing? and kill the spores?

Not sure if it will help my issue but i just shappoed my carpets with baking soda. My neighbor came over bitching I told him about the mold and he stated he had mold problems when he moved in because of a leaky roof. And all that happenned was the sheetrock tore out n replaced the roof simply had the shingles pulled back tarred and pressed back down.he only has a month left on his lease and he is out. Said the landlord wouldnt help with the problem. So is this a problem im not gonna escape without moving? And when i do move is there someway i can "decontaminate" my belongings like say inside the moving truck???

That's the route im heading towards. Just having a hard time finding info on growing orchids indoors in a grow box lol. I'm kinda wanting to know what I can do to minimise the mold. I am willing to clean. I am a Dis. Vet so I have had my fair share.N E and all ideas would be welcome. Now as to my a/c ducts. I'm planning on taking my dog to my brothers for the weekend. I am gonna spend one day burning sulfur. After that im lost as to how to get the ducts clean? I am not paying a comp.

have yu tried taping a fabric to the inside of your air duct??? That might trap any mold that is going into your house from the air ducts, im not sure how small mold particuls are but it seems like a cheap fix, and if it doesnt work your not out alot of money

also, a small air purifier in the room your growing in would help too, there small, cheap to run and if you dont need a big one there relativly cheap to buy as well. something like 50$-80$

sounds like your landlord has some issues that need tending to, you should call the health department as you are leaving, no one deserves to live in a place that breeds mold.

dude...do u not know mold can kill u....u cant live in a moldy house....it is illegal to rent or sale a house with mold in it, u can sue the fuck outta them if they dont fix it..

I had this problem with some military buildings a couple months ago.everyone got sick and shit and like 3 buildings down a kid even died. but what they did for a quick and easy cheap fix was they put filters over the exhaust for the ducts in the house.i would suggest some type of filter substance and maybe even double that shit up as its better to be safe than sorry.
also it took like 2 months before the mold affected us.those sleeping under the air ducts got sicker than shit so be careful mang!

heres what to do bro.... tell the home owner to have the place treated for mold... bottom line.. sounds like a bad situation... mold is very dangerous to your health.... id worry more about yourself and who ever else lives with you before worrying about your plants.. if your landlord says no... make some calls and make his ass berid the mold... its probably illegal for him not to take care of the mold problem.... best of luck to you man..

I remember seeing that on the news...damn shame...

how come no one mentioned spraying lysol in the area ?

if it has carpet in it, and theres mold under the carpet , lysol will not work

yeah lysol is really kinda shitty when it comes to mold.i mean if you have mold from a leaking roof as mentioned its in the walls,the floors,the ceiling.wherever water ran to and sat for a while and dried up over the course of a long time and probablly still isnt dry.you might see some black spots on the ceiling...you also might see spots on the carpet and no matter what you do to the carpet if its under it it will keep returning.you need to talk to the landlord about the issue specially since oyur not growing anything illegal and have nothing to worry about.if he refuses just tell him you want to end oyur lease or oyull contact some authority. just a suggestion and things to think about

bleach is good for getn rid of it too
but yea.. there are laws against renting mold with a room in it .... if its that bad ... id be worring about your own health

sounds to me like his mold problem is pretty bad.. and is going to need proffesional attention.. not something a few cans of lysol or bleach...ect. can fix..

The biggest problem with mold is that is uses sheetrock as food, under all that paint and wallpaper is mold. the only way to be rid of it is to gut out the whole interior and redo everything. Sulphur and bleach and Lysol will only kill the surface mold, the stuff in yer walls will be unaffected. As far as treating the HVAC system, that ones easier, you can buy a high powered UV light just for this type of thing. talk to your local heat/ac guy, he can hook you up.
