Moving Clones Outside

Hey everyone. First time grower and poster. I have 20 Girl Scout cookies clones. I plan to grow outdoors. I put ten clones in the ground and five died I guess the SoCal sun was too harsh. I am being much more careful with second set of ten. Attached is a picture of them in pots. When I placed a few in direct sun for just an hour they actually twist their leaves away from the sun as if too say "too bright!" I return them to their indirect sun spot and they return to a healthy state. Clearly, a gradual rollout is the way to go so I'm looking for some tips on what kind of schedule and method to do that. Thanks so much. image.jpg

Just checking, are your clones rooted already or just stuck in the dirt to develop roots?

When putting any plants outside that have vegged under HID, you need to set them out for 3-5 days in the shade, so they can adjust to the sun. Otherwise, they will pretty much die from the intense sunlight.

Ah good call. That must be adding to their stress. I moved them from rockwool to dirt only 2 days ago. There were lots of lovely roots coming out of the cube that I gently placed in soil.

Could you hazzard a guess on how long it takes for it to be "rooted" after a transplant? A week? Thanks!

You should let them get established perhaps a week before you start gradually exposing them to the sun. The clones in the pictures do not look like they have established a root system yet.
