Multi CFL Setup

Does anyone have detailed plans or pics to show me how to correctly setup a multi bulb setup. Maybe without all the wires and just plugs? Idk... any help would be great.

use 1 plug per socket otherwise you'll just short everything out. you can use y splitters on each socket. thats the only safe way to do it. then if 1 blows you just change the fuse. peace

nah there is another way. u can use a bathroom vanity light and wire it up with a regular plug then u can accommodate up to 5 of the cfl's in one fixture.

what iv got is a small length of conjuit with holes drilled init and light fixtures fitted in the holes and all wires going through the conjuit to the 1 side and then joined and going to 1 plug. wiring them all together is prob best way to do it just aslong as u dont use speaker wire or sumtin and not like 20 lights per plug i would prob do 15 at max depending on wire size and plug size. also put a seperate wire to each light if u do it in a linked way if the first light blows all the lights go out. trust me im a electrician lol

iv been looking for one of those in the uk and cant find one anywhere, anyone know somewhere in the uk that sells em id really appreciate a link or something

dude, you dont have bathroom vanity lights in the u.k. i guess you could go online to lighting of america or home depot and have em ship it to ya. they are extremely cheap. a 5 bulb set up will cost ya like 12 bucks. and that other dude who said he is an electrician is full of shit. an electrician wouldnt tell ya to use any gage wire except speaker wire. or 15 lights per plug there are parameters to wiring lights up dude. i am an electrician

dude u have light 50 lights in your house they are all wired together using 1.5 twin and earth and then go to a 8mm cable for mains or something round that would be differnt in america but you can put the same principls into this system pretty sure i would know im using the system i explained and pretty sure my house hasnt burnt down yet

Yea but all the ones iv seen have holes in the mirror and a fluro tube behind so the light comes out the holes or they use led's

Heres the reflector I built for my CFL's

cardboard 18 x 23 ....make 6 holes for lights, Make side pieces and then duct tape them onto the main piece. After the seams are taped fold them up and tape the sides together. Paint the inside white or cover in mylar. Add the hanging clips, pulley and rope and you're all set to go. I have my timer set on 18/6. It works great.

Are the vanity setups really that cheap? I was thinking about some side lighting for my soon to be 400w hps

i bought a 7 light vanity for 18 dollars clearance at a light store,they have damaged finish,so they sell them cheap,to wire 7 sockets together would cost triple that.

noturbo- you can get a fixture from ikea, it's like what the stars hav in there changing rooms. a mirror with bout 20 sockets around the edge. i'll see if i can find a pic for ya! peace

You've got to be kidding me. I've got 18 on one plug. It pulls the same amps either way. And do you have each one run to a different circuit in the house? And you still use fuses instead of breakers? Y splitters are the only safe way to do it? With a bit of electrical knowledge and some common sense you can save money over the Y splitters and you won't be replacing fuses.
