the dvd covers putting holes in your terrarium and this guy clearly missed that part if he ever watched them in the first place lol

I haven't watched all of the video's just parts, I work from mycology text books written by professional mycologist, there is a list of them on wiki most of them have books that can be found on amazon or ebay. those video's would be a wast of time for me to watch just to find faults. its a perfectly fine video for a complete noob to teach intro basics of each of those methods, if you willing to think you can learn every thing you need to know in just an hour or two.. I have found some of rrs posts useful and i have been the guy who copy and paste his posts as fact but there are plent of times were he has been wrong and if you search his posts.... all of them aren't gold.

also I dont really want to continue argueing about rr my original beef was just the outright attacks to a new guy trying to learn. he just hasn't seen it all and attacking him telling him he's wrong isn't helping him, and I didn't see one post on here that was giving him any helpful information.

Im just gonna back out of this rr love fest lol

You don't think rr has read all the book your talking about before he made his DVD? I'm sure he has, and you will find more outdated info in old mycology books than you will find in his DVD. Also FYI, pf tek and shotgun chamber only scratch the surface of his DVD and he gets into more advanced procedures such as agar strain isolation. Just because those are probably the most viewed and simplest procedures he demonstrates doesn't make them or his DVD obsolete in any way. Also, I never said you could learn everything in 2 hours by watching his DVD, but you can learn everything you need to know to get started, and I'm sure you could learn more in two hours watching it than 2 hours of reading:)

Yes i was getting pissed of with people and their negativity. All i was looking for was some help and friendly advice. Instead i get shut down an crippled by jerk-offs who are egotistical, big-headed pricks. But if it wasn't for them Roman-era mentality, i wouldn't of been encouraged to do something about it. So i guess in a way this world needs dicks and jerk-offs, so that the people who are rational minded, moral and generally smarter can develop inter-personal skills and become more innovative/curious leading to a prosperous life. I like to put these assholes in the same group as Religious fanatics.

Anyway, i made some changes and this is how it looks now:

I have 3 cakes growing. 2 of which were mushroom kits from some online store.
The other is the successful attempt of following the PF-TEK guide from Fungifun.org. Funnily enough, the one cup i kept longest in the pressure cooker is the only one that was sterile enough to allow mushrooms to grow.
Cake 3 is the only one with mushrooms growing so far.

CAKE 1 (This was the first post i made, the cake covered with gooey water):

This cake was an online kit, where instructions showed to leave the bag when fruiting. This obviously didn't work out, so i had to gently remove the goo, let the cake dry for a bit, put it into a different chamber and re-fruit. I managed to save the cake and its now growing healthier and faster than ever>

Signs of mushrooms sprouting when observed up close.

CAKE 2 (Also an online kit):
This one came in a small plastic cup and instructions were to inject the spawn in each corner.
When i began fruiting i had this strange looking thing growing:

After:

Once again there are signs of mushrooms sprouting.

CAKE 3 PF-TEK GUIDE (The most successful):

Any positive and helpful feedback will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

if you listened to me in the first place....

shotgun terrarium.
cheapest way.

you need to learn about
-The Shotgun Terrarium
-Trigger Pinning
-Relative Humidity
-Lighting
and most important....
-FRESH AIR EXCHANGE!!!!!
and CO2 release

the shotgun terrarium will basically help you solve this problem.
YOU ARE SIMPLY USING TOO MUCH WATER.
do not spray the cakes directly when misting!!!!!!!!!!
you never want big droplets on your cakes.

-keep your RH at 95-100% always.
-mist your cakes above terrarium to let mist fall into terrarium and onto cakes (this will help with your water issue)
-fan the terrarium and FAE it as often as possible. it says to fan 3-4 times a day. but more is better.
REMEMBER! misting is not fanning.....so do it moderately!!!

@jonathanlal cant help but criticize the pseudo-philosophical speech you thought up, i was believing it up until you said 'I like to put these assholes in the same group as Religious fanatics'.

that was a completly hypercritical thing to say and seriously undermined the whole point you were making, you basically proved you were just as closed minded, ignorant, egotistic, and bigheaded as the rest of us.

but yeah good luck on the shrooms, its easy once you know what your doing.
