Mushrooms Hospital

Heres the deal i took shrooms once and ended up in the hospital. Now i want to join the air force to become a romad. Should I lie about the use of shrooms? Is there any way for them to know? They have to do a secret security clearance. Would it show up in my blood or urine test? I have no idea what they did or tested for. What should I do?

Standard drug tests do not look for psychedelics-- typically they test for NIDA-5, which is THC, cocaine, amphetamines, opiates, PCP. It CAN be tested for but I couldn't tell you how thorough their testing would be. But if you were admitted to a hospital for it, I'm sure they'll see it on your medical records anyway. Check out this site, it may answer a few questions. I hope it helps, good luck to you.

Shrooms leave your system very fast. Did the hospital know why you were all fucked up? how did you end up at the hospital? You have someone you were tripping with freak out over you or something? Taking you to the hospital was the worst possible thing they probally could have done. Good luck trying to o.d. on shrooms, its basically impossible.

Well long story short my trip partner got separated and i ended up pulling a fire alarm in my frat house. so when the fire department got there they found me. and took me to the hospital. the hospital knew what i was on but i did not get any criminal charges or anything like that. i was just in the hospital for 3 hours and went home.

Its really hard to tell, on one hand most medical people are not all linked up info wise but on the other hand if whoever checks you out finds out somehow it would be bad. Any idea on how thorough they search your background?

When a buddy of mine reenlisted during college, I was contacted by the dept. of Defense and "interviewed" about who he was, what he did, known affiliates, and so on. He had a higher level of clearance, and I think that was why but it was still unnerving. But I freaked out when that message from the D.OD. was left on my phone-- I thought I'd gone to one to many questionable websites!

Sounds like you'll need to get a copy of your medical records. If they didn't test you specifically for psychedelics you're probably in the clear-- they have to use a specific test for that. Good luck bud.

when I tried to join up tp go kill ol' Bin Laden and Hussien, I also was joining a division that required the highest security clearances there was. I wasn't exactly honest about my youthful indiscretions, and they found out stuff about me I couldnt believe. Youd be amazing what FBI and CIA bg checks can bring up... Anyway thier biggest issue with me was that I had lied, kinda a no no for top secret clearance. I was told I probably would have been accepted if I had been honest. I was not accepted, and when I asked if I could join as regular enlisted, at that point they also told me no.

In my very humble opinion, I would say be honest to a degree. Todays military understands drug use in America, and has a bit of leniency for "experimentation". If you were in a hospital, and they "knew" you were shrooming, and if there was bloodwork done, theres a paper trail somewhere, whether you can find it or not.

Good luck, and I expect you to bring me 10 NATZI scalps! :)

I don't think he is talking about actual drug test. But the government will sure ask and might give you a polygraph test... so if your not a trained liar.... then you best tell the truth!

If your recruiter could he would tell ya(well maybe not but the marines recruiter would) that unless you tell them they will not know....so I guess it depends on your ambitions do you intend to try to get into a job that will require higher than a secret clearance??

I work at a hospital so a few things to put you at ease.

#1 - Goverment or anyone but yourself or legal guardian can not obtain your medical records with out a signature by yourself.
#2 - Your records will be in a warehouse if this was a long time ago even if they obtained your permission to get the record it will take a very long time before they get it.
#3 - Medical records are still stuck in the 1970s - it is only lately we are moving to digital so you dont have to worry about them hacking it up or something - its pretty sad but medical system still operating mostly on paper
#4 - If by some miracle they obtained your medical records with your permission you could always say that someone slipped it in your drink or something.

The hospital won't share your info with anyone. It would be a HIPPA violation. If the cops have no report of this your all good, lie on your interview tests and your in the air force.

Just tell them the truth, you tried it once, got sick, did not like it and haven't done it since. I assume your young so I hope it didn't happen a month ago or something. I told them I smoked pot when in collage when I joined. They asked if I bought it or sold it, NOPE, and they waived it. It did not effect me getting a security clearance but each time I had to fill out clearance review paperwork, I had to keep stating it because if it didn't match the last reviews screening that would cause issues.

Naw, i would still deny everything, who knows what job you will apply for in the future and they are not as lenient as the military. Though i also told the military i have smoked in the past, when applying for other jobs (specifically parole officer) I wondered if they could check what i told military, as i told them i havent.

Good to know. But # 4 is complete bullshit lols... public officials will just sigh and giggle on that one ;)

here is the best advice you will get on this topic. When trying to obtain a secret level or higher clearance you had best just be honest about any question you are asked. They want to be able to trust you so don't lie, no matter how tempting it may seem.

Everyone tries shit and the government is surprisingly usually okay with it. A buddy of mine just joined the marines and swore to never smoke weed again while in the army, but failed a test and still got in. I think you should be honest if they ask you. If they don't, fuck it. I don't think taking mushrooms is illegal, is it?

All I know is that I was pursuing a job with the NSA and part of the interview process is a phone-screener and a polygraph during which they re-ask you the phone-screener questions. One of the questions was whether or not I had consumed any illegal substances in the past year - to which I replied "yes" because I knew I would polygraphed a week later. After I said that the interview as over.
