My $0 indoor grow

Hey guys I've made this indoor grow box using things that I have laying around the house.

I decided to do this because the weather started turning quite bad, I kind of got off to a late start.

I've previously done research on what kind of things people have made grow boxes out of.
I used a polstytrine esky which is easy to manipulate. But I'm worried about offgassing??
Two 12v pc fans one for intake of cold air and one to exhaust the of the hot air created by the light.
I originally a lamp which was just a bulb on a cord and then I found a 12v 240 watt flood light.
Aluminium foil to reflect the light. And a timer which had the light and fan set to 16 hours on 8 off

I've been very baked making this thing and I haven't told anyone about it and I want to hear some feedback. Thanks for reading. Stay blazed

Nice effort and job there.. Hope it all goes to plan..
U know what colour / spectrum the flood light is?

That flood light probably wont work... Im guessing its a halogen and not a CFL. If so those halogens get super hot, are a fire hazard and dont produce the right amount of light for plants.

honestly, bite the bullet and get a quality grow light so that way your harvest will atleast be worth it.
you can find good ones for under or around 100 bucks.
If it were me i would go a 2ft 4 bulb t5 $100-$120 or a 150watt mini sunburst for $89.99 comes with an hps bulb.

You can get a 600w HPS for around 200 bucks, or like Cylee said you can probably get 2 (3 bulb) T8s for 100 bucks. I have 2 of them myself.

You can find used stuff on craigslist to save some. U would google anything before buying it. I wouldn't buy bulbs on there though as they will most likely be used up or close to it.

It does get quite hot. I'm not sure what kind of light it is but the exhaust fan dissipates all the hot air before it has time to heat up. I think most of the heat is radiating off the sheet of glass which is in front of the light.

That's the plan. But that won't be happening for another few weeks. At the moment I'm doing the best I can do with the things I have lying around the place

Any ideas, suggestions or lists of things I could do or buy to mod my cheap little grow box would be much appreciated. Keep it budget tho. I'm not going to spend a lot of money until I have a decent non budget set up

I want to know if you can buy cheap fluros online, like off ebay? And do you just plug them in to your average power board?

Your best bet for cheap would be a CFL grow. Theres a subsection in the indoor grow area of this forums I think, they have some good examples of lights you can use

You can't buy off hydrofarms website, but this link shows their cheap t-5 series, which comes in many sizes. It's bright and doesn't make a lot of heat. I'm only using it for early veg and seedling, but that's because I want the most light penetration possible later on, and that simply won't happen with a single t-5 fixture. I really like this light, and I plan on buying more to have multiple shelves, maybe a mother tent.

this is the Starting Bid and UK only Auction, But I'm just using this as an example..you can probably find more and Local to you, and probably cheaper and Buy-It-Now.

Like I said How Good One of these would be..idk? but maybe possible? would it radiate less Heat? Could it be stripped and modified for better use, light coverage...How Knows...somebody on here might, peeps always trying D.I.Y. Grow Ideas..which is Cool..

Happy Growing

That looks awesome dude, it's just a normal cheap one I found in the garden shed :/ I'll have a look on fleabay too. That would run much colder then the one I'm using but the fans do a great job of taking out the hot air before it warms up. It actually makes my room colder. Is that bad for the plants? I moved them closer to the light because I thought it'd like it warmer

Here's a picture of it not tied down I'm not going to do that for a few days because it think it may be under stress. How often should I water it? I've been giving it 600ml of nutrients one day and then 600ml of normal water the next day to flush it, is that right or?
