My 1st grow - Himalayan Gold from Green House Seed Co.

I started my 1st grow November 10th and started to Flower Jan 5th. I choose the DWC for its ease to set up and maintain. I used Botanicare Pure Grow only while vegging with 3 6500k cfl's. I started using a 400wt hps at week 6. i got double air bubbler in each 5 gal bucket. used root riot plugs in grodan with hydroton for stability in mesh basket lids. im now using a whole barrage of nutes for flowering...each 5gal bucket has about 4 gals of water so im adding per 4 gals...10ml of each A&B of AN's Conniosseur, 8ml of each per 4gals of AN Big Bud, AN Bud Candy, & Botanicare Sweet Berry Carbo, and 2.5ml of emerald triangle's Snow Storm Ultra per 1qrt in spray bottle...ill add pics from today and 2 weeks ago...wow they have grown a lot...

I've been WAY skeptical about Greenhouse seeds for a while now, and I'm eager to see how this plays out. I mean, they look like weedplants, but it's gonna be nice to see what the final product smokes like. Thats genetics, but other wise they look healthy as shit, so good job on the growing front!

those plants look very good, where abouts do you think i could get some in australia?

Thanx men for the positive feedback. ive invested a lot of my attention, time, & money to get to where they are. ive fucked up a few times. i went 11 days with no nutes my 2nd week of flowering...1st month of veg i had no timer and turned the lights off when i remebered...but now im a lil more knowledgeable, a lil more prepared, a lil more organized, and a lil more funded. these HG plants i got going now are just durable as shit. ive cut off so many broad leaves...i think i over trimmed. basically i cut off all leaves that are more then 3 inches except top few around buds... ooops...my thinking was it takes energy to maintain those but on the obverse side they need leaves to soak up light and i probably over stressed them...

i was in amsterdam this summer and grabbed some seeds from the green house shop...i got 5 himalayan gold and 5 arjan's strawberry haze. i started 3 of each and only these 2 lived past 5 inches...im not 100% positive these are himalayans cuz i didnt label which seed was what but from what its grown into ive concluded thats its the HG. im 32yrs old and just sick and tired of buying smoke and i cant risk getting busted buying it from some caught up buster. ive done too much with my life to get arrested now. i am not criminal for working all day and coming home to sit in my lazy chair, watch sports center, wrap a fatty, and just let the days stress drift away in a cloud of stinky ass smoke...

i really love how marvelous and diverse this complex plant is. its a complete joy to watch it grow from a seedling to a plant, especially knowing its gunna knock my friggin socks off... cannabis is an absolutely one of a kind plant & an amazing gift from mother nature. anywho, where was i..oh yes...

i just ordered a barrage of seeds from attitudes today...never ordered seeds before so im a lil concerned about my investment. but from what ive heard attitudes is probably the most diverse, reliable, fastest, and expensive place to buy seeds that will ship to anywhere theres a mailbox or a post office. go stealth for $10 more and they guarantee the beans will arrive. i chose a few cup winners and a few that just looked tasty as shit. i hope im not saying too much about how they operate...i only know what ive experienced and thats just placing an order...

Heres my list of seeds on order from attitudes:
Barneys Farm - Pineapple Chunk Feminized x 5
Barneys Farm - Tangerine Dream Feminized x 5
Sensi Seeds - Jack Herer x AK 47 Feminized x 3
Barneys Farm - Violator Kush Feminized x 1
G13 Labs - Pineapple Express Feminized x 1
Nirvana Seeds - Bubblelicious Feminized x 1
Green House Seeds - Super Silver Haze Feminized x 1
I got next 5 seeds free with my order:
Pyramid Seeds Anestesia Feminized x 1
Kannabia Seeds - Kannabia Special Feminized x 1
Pyramid Seeds - Tutankhamon Feminized x 1
Pyramid Seeds - Osiris Feminized x 1
Dinafem Seeds - NYC Diesel x 1

lovely selection you got there in the line up vetran totally agree with you not buying it from someone an bringing attention to myself because police is watching them, most of the crap round here has like a green plastic sprayed on the buds some wierd shit, its better to grow your own 10 x stronger an that unbelivable pleasure you get from knowing that you grew this bud, attitude is good i have never had any probs an they even replaced a couple that got crushed once thumbs up i will be watching out for your future grows pineapple express looks great its on my list to get i seen some good pulls from that strain, if you have 1 of a seed try to keep it as a momma an get clones save lots of paper$$ plus grow time strating from seed peace

Those look like they have a good two weeks to go to me. They swell then Hairs retreat.
I gotta tell you anytime you remove a fan leaf it affects the entire plant. It takes NO energy to sustain a healthy fan leaf. They are the Solar Power Center for a plant to live. They store sugars & starches that buds will consume when needed. They regulate heat & cooling. There by transpiration or water consumption. If you had more foliage you would have bigger buds. It's a big Oops to me. Just trying to help.

Daniels, thanx for that tid-bit. i never knew that...so leave on all fan leaves till the end? or should i cut off lower fan leaves that are not gunna be near any keeper buds?

should i leave the light cycle 12/12? i read somewhere about changing it the last week to 11/13 for a few days and then 10/14 the last 3-4 days. is there anything i should do different the last 2 weeks daniels? feeding, light cycle, etc etc etc?

My point is a lower leaf effects what you call a keeper bud. Even lower with low filtered light they still store sugars & starches. The plant can draw from that extra storage.
Here's a post by a Guru.

Gawd, one reason I hate this topic is I seem to get sucked into it every time LOL! :-P

I respect THE cannabis botanist of all time, Robert C. Clarke and also Mel Frank. I also know botany and have decades of plant growing experience.

In his book "Marijuana Botany", Robert Connell Clarke states that:

Leafing is one of the most misunderstood techniques of drug cannabis cultivation.

He states that there are 3 common beliefs:

1.) Large shade leaves draw energy from the flowering plant and by removing the large fan leaves surplus energy will be available and larger floral clusters will be formed,

2.) Some feel that the inhibitors of flowering, synthesized in the fan leaves during the long non-inductive days of summer may be stored in the older leaves that were formed during the non-inductive photoperiod. Possibly, if these inhibitor-laden leaves are removed, the plant will proceed to flower more quickly when the shorter days of fall trigger flowering,

3.) Large fan leaves shade the inner portions of the plant, and small, atrophied, interior floral clusters may begin to develop if they receive more light.

Few, if any, of the theories behind leafing have any validity.

The large fan leaves have a definite function in the growth and development of cannabis. Large leaves serve as photosynthetic factories for the production of sugars and other necessary growth substances. They do create shade, but at the same time they are collecting valuable solar energy and producing foods that will be used during the floral development of the plant. Premature removal of the fan leaves may cause stunting because the potential for photosynthesis is reduced.

Most cannabis plants begin to lose their larger leaves when they enter the flowering stage and this trend continues on until senescence (death of the plant) He also states that removing large amounts of fan leaves will also interfere with the metabolic balance of the plant. Leaf removal may also cause SEX REVERSAL resulting from a metabolic imbalance

He goes on to say that cannabis grows largest when provided with plentiful nutrients, sunlight, and water, and left alone to grow and mature naturally. It must be remembered that any alteration of the natural life cycle of cannabis will affect productivity.
