My 1st grow - why is she so small?

Hello everyone! Twenty-one year female here, my first grow so don't be too hard on me ;)
I don't a have lot of money at the moment so my set-up is very lame but hey, it's something.
I have two plants but for right now I am just talking about one of my girls. LSD - Barney's Farm
She is REALLY bushy. The picture doesn't show it but the inner growth going on is nuts!

Closet grow
Sprouted 11/24
150 watt HPS light - I plan to add a couple of CFLs later.
3 gallon smart pot
Fox Farm Ocean Soil
Finally obtained Fox Farm Grow Big LAST night so she was fed for the first time on 12/29 - maybe that's the reason why she's so small? (Couldn't my hands on PH up and down until just recently so that is probably contributing as well)

I know there is a lot more and better equipment I need to obtain.

I have a fan in there as well but not a humidifier. I do need one because the humidity stays at 30-40%.
Any advice on why she is so small? I have topped her twice and did some LST so she is really bushy but isn't gaining much height. I noticed a few days ago she was starting to get slightly yellow and brown areas so I figured she was lacking nitrogen and phosphorus. So we will see what happens. Thanks everyone!!xx :weed:

I don't think you are going to need a humidifier. Maybe mist then once or twice a day or hang a wet towel in front of a fan.

They look good, plants always veg better under MH light so if you could afford another bulb, your plants would be happier.

You CAN veg under HPS, people do, but then again people do allot of shit that is less than ideal.

Lastly, add a little calmag to your nutrient regime. Maybe like 2-3 ml a gallon. Some of the yellow blotches look like a subtle mag deficiency to me.

Some plants like allot of mag, some don't. Watch for mag deficiency when you flip!

Have fun

Thanks for the reply @legallyflying I appreciate it! I'll try to get a hold of some Calmag soon. It's been a little over a month now. I was hoping she would be bigger so I could flip the lights. Do you think she'd even produce much at the size she is now?

I couldnt hazard a guess as to production on that guy. My plants are 4' tall when I flip them :(

It's probably getting close with such a small bulb

I recommend a humidifier from eBay or a thrift shop for like $10. With low humidity the plants will drink more water and take up more nutrients and then burn. I found out the hard way about this. A cool mist humidifier is best.
Did you get a ph tester? If the ph is off it will for sure stunt the growth and make it very slow.
Get those 2 things in check and go from there. Good luck!

Topping a plant will set it back a bit, you said you topped it twice. Some plants take longer then others to bounce back, some don't miss a beat.

She's not too small considering the pot size and the time frame, and being a first grow. Honestly I'd prefer that short bushy growth in veg over the tall stretched out structure, cuz once you flip to 12/12 those nodes are gonna gain a good deal of distance between each other from the 'stretch'. As mentioned, topping can slow them down a bit so you can't compare it to another plant at the same age that hasn't been topped twice, even if it's the same strain and pheno...lotta factors - genetics, pot size, lighting and environmental conditions, pheno, medium, etc...she's doing just fine imo...

Yo Luv, so many questions. Your plant looks good. I've grown LSD a few times before and it's one of our favorite smokes. Yours looks fine for being 1 month & 1 week old. The LSD has very tight node spacing and definitely shows a genetic predisposition to bushing out, as opposed to going straight up, which you will be thankful for later. How big is your closet? How close does the light hang to your plants? What's your other plant.....LSD too? If you flowered her now you might get an ounce......and that's not good enough:) Don't bother with the humidifier. You'll just want to expand your grow soon anyway, and when you start flowering them you'll be happy the humidity is at or below 50%. And if you're in a closet you probably have carpet too...? So, it's not an ideal set-up, but you obviously understand this. The key is to never stop growing, and never stop growing your grow. I got around 12 ounces from my outdoor LSD this last summer. I've flowered plants early just cuz before, and you almost always wish you'd have waited. Gardening teaches you patience, among a million other things. Good luck!
