Yea, we all got a 1 way ticket to balls-ville first time around... :/

btw I made a new thread (its in my sig)

yea I thought about that LST shit but ive just been lazy. I might try it though.
LST mazing doesn't really work that great, I found out first hand.

The best way to LST is to just tie branches away from the center to open the plant up and let light penetrate everywhere.

I've got 60 more for next grow, along with my great white shark fem. and my buddy hit me up with 5 more thai super skunk seeds

I need help with your help! I recently purchased one of those aero gardeners but I have the smaller version. I planted about 6 white widow seeds only 2 sprouted up. Then about 2 weeks later I started to see root rot. I don't know what I'm doing wrong! Can you please break everything down for me like how much water to use to what type of lights and etc. Thanks

Ok so its been about 8 days since I switched to the flowering cycle and I think 1 of the 5 ladies might be a DUDE!!! The other 4 girls have no signs of balls.... little hairs starting to pop up everywhere on the other 4... not sure on the sex yet though... nonetheless.. HERE IS MY QUESTION

I think I see BALLS.... not everywhere yet.. but on the main cola and one or two secondary sections... they still dont look like balls from my first grow (WHICH WERE ON EVERY FUCKING NODE!!!)... Do I CHOP it right away... or do I give it another day or 2 to be sure....????? HELP!!!! BASICALLY THE BALLS ARENT THAT BLATANT YET..

Like I said... balls havent formed everywhere yet and I think its the VERYVERY first signs of balls.... I DONT WANT TO POLLINATE THE OTHER LADIES BY WAITING TOO LONG.. AHHHHH

LIke I said... HELP!

Have patience, hon! I recall SICC thought one of his females might have been a male, but showed her sex shortly after and now he's a happy camper. :hump:

Remember that males most often show definite sex first, so it could be a "late bloomer" like a prepubescent teenager. ;) Don't chop it just yet! Wait until you are 100% certain! I've read people posting about having been hasty and chopping down what "might" be a male, only to find that it very likely wasn't. You've got time between seeing "true" balls and any chance whatsoever of pollen production, so just watch and wait.

Meanwhile, here's something for your listening pleasure:

So I have a question. Lets say it is a male and you have to chop it. Will its roots that are entagled with all the other plants' roots then rot and become a problem? Just curious.

And sorry, I don't have much advice on what to do about male plants. In trying to make my first grow as noob-proof as possible I opted for feminized seeds and therefore kind of glossed over the whole sexing issue.

You're right I do remember SICC mentioning that. I will be more patient. Oh and that song couldnt have come at a better time... fucking hilarious. It was playing in the background as I read the rest of my thread... hilarious...

I was told before that you have to gently remove them once you chop the male. Seemed crazy to me but apparently they come loose fairly easily when it comes down to it... I'll let you know how I make out...lol

and yeah... they will rot in your rez so u GOTTA get em outta there

alex make sure your 100% sure before u cut it down.hope they are all female good luck man:)
will do man... will do.....

THANKS ALL.... I SURE DO 'PPRECIATE 'CHA!!!!!!! Yall Come back now ya hear!!!!

Rather than quoting a massive quote, I'll just post below.

I have never had any problems untangling roots in a hydro/aero medium, you might break a few roots off, no big deal, its much better than a clump of dying roots that will spread the rotting rootmass to your live plants. You should gently run your fingers through them and find the tips from the other plant then gently give them a little pull if nothing budges and it feels like you are going to break them, stop, and try to see if you can untangle them.

Its kind of like untangling a knot, you have to play around with it... but you have to be really, really gentle.

If you have clumsy sausage-fingers you are going to have to be extra careful.

Don't rush it, depending on how tangled yours are it might take you 20-30mins to carefully remove them without damaging your ladies, it is definitely do-able you just have to be careful, the more you play around with roots the more you learn the strength of them and how hard you can pull the roots out of other roots.

I like to check on my roots every few days and just untangle as much of them as I can if I see they are balled up or growing into one column, if they are I like to spread them apart to prevent ANY possible root rot.

Thats some good advice man, keeping up on your roots as the plants grow to keep 'em nice and fanned out.

Well if its a male and you have to sort through the roots, just BE CAREFUL. Thats gonna be a serious fuckin chore with that root mass dude. lol oh shit
