She said her character on the sitcom "was molded by me, from me" and that the "values and principles" of the Kansas farm girl mirrored her own.

Dawn Wells, the girl-next-door actress and former beauty queen who played the sweet Mary Ann Summers on the iconic CBS sitcom Gilligan's Island, died Wednesday morning. She was 82.

Wells died in Los Angeles of causes related to COVID-19, her publicist announced.

Other than Tina Louise, Wells was the last surviving member of the regular cast of the Sherwood Schwartz-created show, which featured three women and four men marooned on a desert island after their three-hour boat tour off the coast of Honolulu went inexplicably awry.

Gilligan got busted for pot as well. Twice.

In 1971, Denver was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his car and pleaded no contest for a reduced sentence of a $250 fine.[8] In 1998, he was arrested for marijuana delivered to his home, originally saying that the delivery came from Dawn Wells who played Mary Ann on Gilligan's Island, but he later refused to name her in court, testifying that "some crazy fan must have sent it." He pleaded no contest and received six months probation.[9]

never watched the patty duke show. Gilligan's island, Mchales navy, f-troop, lost in space, the man from uncle, the avengers (mrs. piel was HOT), bugs bunny....

Those were the days... no vcr's, one tv in the house, no cell phones. Ahh, simpler times.

Most guys wanted to meet Ginger. But I was always a Mary Ann fan. Anyone else ever wondered how the professor could make a radio out of a coconut but he could not fix a hole in a boat with all those trees around?

I always like Mary Ann. I figured Ginger was a Hollywood type. I guess I believed the story line! A friend of mine was a real fan, he has pictures with her from a old radio and tv convention. He was the one who told me about it, he follows a lot of old celebrities.
