My first attempt

I didnt get to start this plant myself. I found it in my yard one day while just randomly walking around. I immediately dug the plant up and took it indoors to try to grow. The plant is kinda banged up at the moment, it sorta looks like some leaf cutter ants got a hold of it.

I have a light I use to use for my iguana shining on the plant. I believe its 160 watt Mercury Vapor UVB. I am not totally sure if this is a good light for growing but it is all I have for right now. I also have a timer to set the lighting to 12/12.

Am I implementing this lighting cycle to early or can it be done like this?

Anyways I will try to post updates daily.

A few pics:

I'm always open to suggestions, so please leave them.

Current Setup
Crap soil from my yard
160 watt Mercury Vapor UVB Lamp & 50 watt Incandescent
Timer 18/6 Lighting

(Things to Buy)
New Soil
New Pot
Lighting
Fan
Rolling Papers :bigjoint:

*EDIT* changed lighting to 18/6
*EDIT* i added another light temporarily.

Welcome to RIU :hump:

Must be nice to just walk around your yard and find a plant. It definately looks like it needs some nutes.

thanks for the welcome. it was a shocker to find the plant growing but no complaints here lol
I will definatly will be buying some miracle grow soil this weekend to transplant into. Im currently using crap soil from my yard. This was an unexpected find so I'm very unprepared for this so I have to buy things slowly. payday doesnt come fast enough -.-

Hello, you could use a mercury vapor lamp, but it is highly not suggested. Also, go to wal mart and buy a couple of 26 watt day light cfls 6500k and veg it for another 3 weeks and then into flowering. Also, you will need to transplant her if you still got her in the soil from outside.

oh and switch the timer to 18/6

Great find though man....

I've always thrown my seeds in the yard, but I always threw them in one particular area, so to find it where it was at was weird. anyways I changed the lighting. I'll buy all the stuff I need during the week.

thanks for the replies. I happened to come across an incandescent bulb so I added it to my setup. seems like its helping the plant out some. I also added some fertilizer to give it a boost.
Ill be really sad if I go through all this trouble to grow this plant and it turns out to be male. you may see a grown man cry lol. anyways Ill post updates during the week.

Indeed, welcome!

My dad spent a few years walking his yard pulling up plants after I moved out. These plants are hearty and strong. Get a few CFL's for your and it will perk right up.

I added a cfl but its only 13 watts. anyways the leaves are starting to lay down a bit and since I added the fertilizer things are starting to look decent. I also had some seeds germinating and one had a pretty good sized tap root so i planted it. before my lights go out tonight ill post some pictures.

eh bro you still need alot more watts than 13, they are just a waste of time and money. I suggest you invest in at least a 26 watter 6500k daylight.... ASAP>>>>>:wall:

even tho i still dont have proper lighting I decided to post pictures anyways.

looks better than the first pictures I posted, but Im sure will look 100% better once i get better lights. The plant is starting to stink (not in a bad way). I also found some potting soil and transplanted it into the new soil. i need to get some god damn lights asap. ive been getting rained out at work so my paycheck will be horrible.

I still need to get 3 CFL lights and a hanging socket. a fan as well. Can anyone tell me if this fertilizer is any good or bad? http://www.amazon.com/Miracle-Gro-LiquaFeed-Refill-4-Pack-100432/dp/B0015WUQ24
I used the smallest amount I could the last watering I did. I'm hoping it doesnt hurt the plant.

Well first off you should ask the guy if you can take over his thread by asking questions lol

But to answer no plant the seeds separately and get yourself a couple 40 watt cfls =].
