My First CFL Grow

This is my first CFL grow.
I've grown outdoors a couple of times, but have grown only once indoors on my own (which led to a complete disaster after my dog shredded up my ladies
).
I have two Mendo Purp (seeds bought from a dispensary) seedlings that sprouted on the 16th (one got burned because the light dropped on it while I was out watching Django. Great movie by the way).
Meet my two ladies! Condom and Bengay (the burnt one)

Thanks! And yeah, I'll definitely keep a better watch on her this time around.
Sneaky bastard got to my plant while I was fetching the water to water her. :wall:

Thank you and thank you! The names took quite a process to be chosen
I currently have 2 6500k cfls hanging over my ladies with 2 more 5000k cfls that are going to be put up today. :hump:

Cfls work great man, how did your outdoor plants turn out? I've always dreamed of growing outdoors.
Yeah, I saw a couple of CFL grows that turned out pretty well and decided that I should give it a shot. And well, I've been growing outdoors for about 2 years now with a couple of different strains and for the most part, I think they turned out pretty well. It's pretty simple and you yield a lot more than an indoor grow if you have the right kind of setting and space. (And there's no electricity bill to worry about!) You should definitely give a go! And if you ever need help with your first grow outdoors, I'd be more than willing to help you personally

Nice plants, nice names. LOL
What are you using for lights?
I saw your post on my other thread and wanted to thank you for the reply. And you're an ex-californian you say?!?! :o

Hey man good luck with your garden. I am also a CFL'er and am on my 7th garden since this time last year. Regular, Femmed, and auto seeds, I have had really great success with this set up of 14 23 watt bulbs that I only turn on when the plants need them and switch from 6500k to 2400k or whatever they are when I start to flower. Keep em close as possible to your canopy and have a fan blowing across the top of the plants to help keep temps down. Im adveraging just over an ounce per plant with reg and femmed seeds and pinch every plant that I grow. If you have any ? Ill try to help the best I can. I live in a little town northern ontario Canada and have been told that I have the best bud in town so it is the best setup for my personal needs. J

good luck Cranky...I just started my first CFL but I still prefer the sunlight, got one sun tanning right now...I'm using the sun/CFL tag team approach during the winter months.

cheers

Thank you for the support. And my light schedule is set at 18/6 for veg (planning to veg for about 4-5 weeks) and the lights are 2.5 inches away from the top of the plants.
At the moment, I don't have any fans set up (but I do have them from my previous grow), only because i only have 2 cfls and heat is not much of an issue.
I'm planning to top them both and do a little LST as they grow. I'll definitely take up your offer and ask any questions if I encounter any problems I can not diagnose. Thank you once again. :D

sub,d im doing a organic dinafem amnesia auto grow with cfls.
Thanks! Organic you say? :-o I've always had an interest in organics but never got around to it, do you have a link to your grow? I'd like to see!

Thanks and good luck to you as well!
I've always been quite fond of the outdoors, but probably the main reason for that is because it's familiar territory for me. I've always wanted to grow indoors, but I kind of gave up on it for a while after my dog made my lady into a chew toy. :wall: And using the sun and CFL's... hmm... That sounds like an interesting approach... I might actually just try that with Condom ;-)

Subbed! Can't wait to see how your grow turns out. Maybe we can learn from one another since we'll be pretty much on same day/week of our grow. Always better to have two minds rather than one right?
I wish you the best of luck.

This is my current seedling setup, but keep in mind that this is only temporary. My grow box is under construction at the moment and will be done tomorrow. I was originally planning to use my 8x4 grow tent, but I figured that it is simply too big to fit in my room and don't require that much space... So, I opted to build a grow room :-P.
Pictures and specs of the new grow room will be up tomorrow! :hump:

Regardless of temp, a fan going all the time is good, the breeze will imitate the wind and help strengthen the stems.

Thanks for the advice, I've had that in my mind, but it's just that I can't be home at all hours of the day to check on my ladies so I leave them about 2.5 inches from the light so that it won't burn the leaves while I'm gone. But I do put them closer when I'm home and haven't planned to go anywhere. :-D

Yeah I know, I read about that a lot and did it when I first tried to grow indoors. But this is only a temporary space and I'll have fans and such installed tomorrow after finishing my grow room.

I attach the pigtails of the chains to a second set of hooks which would limit any fall to a couple of inches if I should blunder on the first set of hooks...I refer to this as "Stoners Insurence"
