for one you should of not topped those plants like that. you will be lucky if they stay healty. you need to cut the lower arms that come off the plant if you need to clone.

they might recover. bending tops is the best thing to do. slowly bend the tops as they grow. that makes the lower branches want to be the dominant lead in the plant, and tries to grow taller and in turn grows stronger. i have seen a 200 plant grow opp and seen the results. some tops were actually growing horizontal and twisting around other plants. was amazing. but back to the subject, the plants might turn out ok. have not seen that technique used. but being a arborist, its one of the worst things you can do to a tree is top it. cause low growth rate and week structure. and marijuana is alot like a tree in sorts.

I think you may be fucked on that one. I mean you cut the whole top of the plant off. That's typically where your buds start from. You must be referring to topping, or fimming, which can cause your plants to grow more underbrush so to speak. I would never advise someone to cut the top of their plant off. I think you may have misunderstood what they told you to do. My only suggestion at this point would be to do some of your own research. There is some really good info in the FAQ on this site, at the top right of the page. Start there, all the info you need to get started and succeed in this pastime. Otherwise good luck, and hang in there bro. It only gets better.

Yeah bro, IF someone suggested what you actually did then they're misinformed. Topping (which you should research) has to do with snipping off just the top leaves of new growth. This is typically done at a younger stage, so you get multiple branches from the start. Your clones should be just fine, but they don't need to be taken from the top like that. I typically clone from my smallest lower branches that grow prior to me topping, so once the clones are taking there's no small growth at the bottom.

Your plants should not be a waste though. First off, cut off any main stem growth down to the area of the lowest branches, as this will be no use to you.

Move your lighting as close as possible to the plant. I see you're using (what I assume is a single tube) fish tank light, which is very minimal lighting for a CFL setup. The farther away = more stretching i.e. more area between notes.

Well it depends on how many individual branches you want. When you're topping it's going to use all the strength that went into the top cola production into the lower branches. The lower you top, the more production will go into a select few. I top at a short level, I usually clip off the veg above the 3rd level of leaf growth. This leaves me with 6 branches to play with, the bottom two are for clones and the top four are used through growth.
