Nice job for the first attempt i must say! i might get into DWC myself looks quite interesting! those roots are friggin massive! lol they must really suck back the juice!
out of curiousity how much did it cost just for the whole tote and setup too run it? excluding your lights and temp gauges ect just the container and the stuff that makes it run.

lol thats alot of money! for me at least! i collected everything over the few years and went on craigs list to purchase stuff at discounts.

I also did alot of DIY to save money, like my DWC.. I also made 2 DWC containers so I can run 6 plant site. Yea those roots are crazy and the plants too! I think I have 2 males and 2 femals .. in the DWC i have 2 females and 1 male.. although the one male isnt really showin its bananas i am almost pretty ppositive...

If I had to guess I say about $$ 1200 give or take.

I started off with the t5 then traded my 45 for the 400 watt air cooled with fan. I just acquire as I came along.. its nice to see how much I have gathered, like my PH meter! You would of thought there be so much work involved! lol .. for dwc that is.. My soil grow I pretty much just water and forget kinda deal.. the dwc really requires daily attention..

Thanks for stopping by ! again! yea I have the dwc in my bathroom with cfls.. I plan on adding more cfls and getting a timer... kinda hot in there so I am going to get a fan to help...

I still have lots of stuff I want to get

I really need the grow tent for the flowering of my DWC grow and my non auto plants. I was smart and planted my autos week or 2 apart. I just planted my LA WOMEN not to long ago, I have grand daddy purple growing, its about month old give or take. it looks like a female, I like to find out for sure, just to make sure I am not wasting space.

what does a DWC require? and whats DWC stand for? is it bubble ponics? is it just a tote with airstones and thermo and a ph meter? i couldent really tell with the pictures all what goes into it. do you circulate the water or? i realize you need baskets with coco stones but besides for that what does it require?

well what I did.. and this is what I did.. others prefer to use a water pump in addition to what i have.

I have 4 10 inch airstones running off of 2 pumps.. 1 pump is meant for 25 gallons + other is for 10 15 gallons.. I have a 10 gallon tote i used with the lid. I added a drainage for easier cleaning and draining off water.. this allows me to hook up a garden hose to dump somewhere... I also have a sprayer that i use to add fresh water and clean any build up. I prettty much keep about 4 gallons of water w solution in it. I really have alot of oxygen getting into these plants.. you get away with 2 10 inch stones as long as you have a decent pump. I keep the pump running 24/7. the roots are submerged in water.. not all of them though... I check ph daily and temps...

Make sure no light penetrates water either... I also make sure my nutes are mixed up already in a a jar with water before adding into the tote when adding nutes.. Alot of people have different ways of ding it. DWC stands for DEEP WATER CULTURE.. basically I just have a plain DWC.. or plain bubbleponics system.. alot of people will get a water pump and attach feed tubes directly to the roots to give it more water.... I opted out for this, seeing how I am getting good results without it.

I dona't know anything about it helping with pH. I never heard that one before.

It helps add needed iron and Magnesium in VEG.

I thought i read somewhere it help with nutes and prevent lock up something like that.. So really at this point my plants dont need that then.. I should be fine with ff line and the liquid karma.

I been using the hygrozyme too. sparingly though.. I am going to give it some some more of that stuff, as I took one plant away from the 3 dwc container... the roots were quite tangled with the other ones... So I figured the hygrzyme help out..

Hyrozyme is great medicine for pythium, but I didn't know you had root rot. It helps disolve dead matter in the tank and turn it into food, IF you have dead matter in the tank. I am positive it doesn't help any with tangled roots and tangled roots arae just fine anyway.

Look at these pics here:
Whacking the MALES

It is ok to cut off half the roots with no consequences when taking out the males.

well the guys at the store recommend the stuff said it is good not just for root rot.. No i do not have root rot.. I tell this much I have lots of roots that are quite massive! I wish I had that link b4 I whacked the male... taking him out sure cleaned up the space allowing more light to be absorbed thru the other plants.

I pretty much did was cut the roots from top of the net since they were tangled at bottom with the other ones. When I drain and clean my tub which may be this sunday, I may give it a detail scrub. Before I used the power of the sprayer to wash the residue off and what not.. But seeing how I have some dead matter in the from removing the roots I give it a good clean and add some fresh nutes w water... My tub has been pretty clean and very low salt build up which is a good thing. I always clean it out once a week and flush lots of clean water thru it before adding nutes and stuff.

HAPPY THANKS GIVING TO YOU AND EVERYONE ELSE! HOPE EVERYONE HAS A WONDERFUL DAY !! GOBBLE GOBBLE!

whats going on smartguy, great journal by the way, you should check out this tent http://www.hydrohuts.com/products.html. that links just for the pics and specs, but i copped the 3x3 from http://www.dchydro.com/category/GRH0/Indoor-Greenhouses/ and its really nice, I haven't had the golden oppurtunity to test her out yet but judging by the way they made this thing, it should be good I zipped myself up in it, and i couldn't see anything or breathe! lol. the 4x4 is kinda pricey but well worth the money, I'm still waiting to get started, i'm ordering my SH kit on Monday and hope to get everything else going in the next couple of weeks, so all i do now is read and ask ALOT of questions, but i'm sure I'll have many more once i get started. I hope this helps, I'm still a noob to but I'm just learning as I go from roseman, and all of the other greats, good luck on your grow man. peace
