Ok I am a beginner in the DWC (Deep Water Culture)
circle. I set up my system and off I went. I started 1 about 3 weeks ago in soil and transferred it to my DWC. WOW!!! I also started 3 more regulars and they seem to be taking to the DWC really nice. Now for the big ones. I ordered from nirvana 5 Jock's and 5 Bubble's autofem's Got them yesterday and Very happy with the fast stealth shipping! So I started 2 jocks and 2 bubble's and 1 freebie. I am germing them in rapid rooters. I am using leftover Chinese food containers for a humadome stored in my closet. I hope I am on the right track. I really am trying to K.I.S.S(Keep it simple stupid) I will keep everybody updated on my first DWC grow. Here are some pics and my first root porn shot! I don't want to overthink the Autofem's cause this is my first time having guaranteed females and having a plant with KILLER BUD! 400 Watt MH for veg and a 400 Watt HPS for flower. Changing bulbs at week 5 to 6.

I will be posting here alot with questions so please to the advanced growers follow my thread.

your plants will grow to the side as well, what I am getting at is that you have too many plant sin a small space, its too crowded or it will be.

By "cropping out" I mean harvesting your plants. Because you have so many plants in a small area you will need to keep them small. So instead of growing your plants large. Harvest smaller plants more frequently.
I am a beginner. I just started some jock and bubble autofem beans in Rapid Rooters. They are just starting to crack open. I want to put them in the same room and switch the regulars to a darkroom for 12 hours, Yea also it will let me know if I have any males cause we all know what happens to the boys. THEY DIE and that will clear up room too.

OK I am sooo worried right now! Like I said in my first post I am germing 2 jocks and 2 bubbles autofems in rapid rooters in Chinese food containers in my closet. Been in there for 4 days now. I am so use to germing the paper towel way but I was told that rapid rooters from seed to harvest is the way to go. I want to know if I am doing this right. PLEASE HELP! This is the first time I have done ant of this. I am so new to growing in DWC. I have the rapid rooters very moist and only 2 per container with a little water around the sides. The seeds are in there and the hole covered loosely with a piece of the RR cube. Please guide me masters!!! I am your apprentice!!

The Jock cracked and is doing well. We are well on our way. Miss Piggy went outside to flower. I had no choice and this is the perfect time where I live to flower outdoors. I will let you know if I finally have a female out of regular seed this year. I had 6 males! IT SUCKED!

Looking good. Prepare to buy more totes, air pumps and air stones. When those plants are larger the roots are going to tangle and probably drink most of the water in one day.

I'd separate them anyway in case of problems like root rot. I've done a DWC grow in the past , my setup was almost identical and had to move to individual containers. 5+ gallon containers (a few 10 gallon tubs for a few plants), for each plant. Even the 5 gallon bucket plants were drinking a gallon or more a day. It's a hassle and if you're out for a few days they will die.

No need to panic, you've got time but I'd run multiple tubs as they get larger and deeper into flower otherwise you're going to have a real headache. Just scoping out the pics, I'd probably run 2 plants in your current tub as they mature. The main thing is that you're doing a good job now and making more tubs is fairly cheap.

These are in a 30 Gallon Tote. There will only be 4 in there next week. I am transplanting the last regular into soil next week so you still think 4 plants is too much for a 30 gallon tote? I am home all this time so I check on them about 4 times a day and place ice bottles into my res 4 times a day. Keeps my res temps between 56 and 66 degrees so I am not to worried about root rot. I have two 10" air stones in there now. plenty of oxygen. I also plan on off setting the four auto plants to provide more space. I have a couple of totes laying around the house plus a couple of extra air stones so If I have to I can buy another air pump and put 2 18 gallon totes on there if I have to. I thought 4 autoflower plants would grow fine in a 30 gallon tote. Let me know. Thank you so much for your feedback.

Ok I thought it was an 18 or so gallon. Looks like you got it all under control!

Good luck and you should post plant pics periodically for us to see.

IMHO 1 per tote.... The entire left 2'x2' of my 2x4 tent is taken up by 1 DWC plant.... the grow to the size and shape of the root container.... I use individual 10 gallon totes with 1 site per tote.... Experience is the best teacher.... this is 2 plants in DWC in a 2x4 tent, There's barely any room left.... Any other plants put in these systems would be choked out quite quickly

IMHO going from hydro to dirt with the same plant is a bad idea... Start and finish in one medium.
And clean your messy ass house!
Yea I started the reg's to experiment so I wouldn't mess up the autos. Hence the name of the thread. LOL I will start 4 reg's in soil and 4 autos in DWC my next grow. This is my attic not my house. Yes I have straightened it up too. Thank you for everything. I have more totes so If I have to I will transfer them into separate totes. I am 3 weeks into the grow of the autos. One of the Jock's is a little behind. (The seed took a little longer to crack than the others.) but they all started germinating on the 8th of September. I also introduced them to nutes right away. I put them right into the DWC as soon as they popped the surface of the rapid rooters. I did that with the reg's I started as the experiment and they did fine so I did it with the autos. I will keep you updated!

How long have you been vegging those? I have Autoflowers so they will only get so big.
