My first grow... All help is much appreciated!

I'm a completely new grower. Everything I know has been based off of countless hours of researching many confusing and contradicting ideas regarding all aspects of growing. I found one YouTube video that stuck out the most to me (
). The differences in our set ups are that Im going to use 1 600watt air cooled hood in a 4x4x6.5 tent and I plan to grow only 6 plants (so I plan to grow much bigger plants). The guy in the video does well at harvest I would say but his buds look a little earthy to me. I would think this is because he doesnt use any added nutrients, where as I plan to use the Lucas formula (heard its good for beginners) along with any other suggested nutrients to go with this in hopes of having a better outcome. I want to follow this guy step by step up until I stop feeding seaweed extract and start using nutrients. So would I be okay doing so? Also I have no idea how to incorporate other nutrients (which I hope you guys will suggest) to go along with the Lucas formula in order to achieve a great plant. I understand that different stages will call for different nutrients to be used along with my constant Lucas formula being fed to my plants. So would I just incorporate those nutrients into the same water and feed together or would it have to be done separately? And if it has to be done separately then how do I create a schedule to fit all of my feedings and waterings ? I know a lot of this seems like rambling but I'm at a loss due to all the overwhelming internet information. Thank you for taking the time to help me out! I really do appreciate it!

Lucas formula is great, but I personally recommend an organic soil and a complete soluble organic fertilizer program.

I recommend this for ease. It's the easiest way to grow and make it to harvest. No pH, no EC, and can help prevent and overcome a lot of other issues beginners face.

I've only been growing for around 9 months, but my first grow with synthetics was a painful experience. Made it to harvest, but barely. I've grown a lot of other plants since using Roots Organic stuff, and things have been fantastic.

How have your yields been as far as quality? I've always been interested in organics but I got too excited and bought the gh flora series. Can you recommend products because I do eventually hope to go this route.

Hello all. This is my first grow also. Im currently on week 6 of flower. Arround weeks 4/5 the buds grew quite abit and got very sticky but at this point are less sticky and dont seem to be gaining much weight at all. Will they pack on a bit more weight and potency in the last few weeks?

My results have been great! Nice yields considering my space (4-6 oz. in a 3x2x6 under 600W LED for flowering) and the quality is great.

What I'm now learning, after opening a jar that's been curing for 3 months, is, it's all about the cure. This is the most fragrant, sweet, skunky, citrusy bud I've ever smelled. It tastes like tangerines. I only cured one out of 5 ounces for that long, the rest was gone in a few weeks. It tasted like plain old boring weed. I'm guessing it was just too wet still, though it broke apart ok.

Anyway, I think organic and synthetic can get you the same results, but organic makes it harder to screw up.

I second this comment. Soil and organics is the simplest way to start out. Really hard to fuck shit up, unless you get hog wild with nutrients and over watering and loving them to much.
Curing is key to a tasty, well refined enjoyable smoke. I don't really care how my buds "look" I care how they taste after a good curing.

Pro-tip, create a thread of yee own, one that includes, strain info, grow room info, etc etc.
But to answer your question, potency is determined mostly by genetics. Size is determined by genetics and growing conditions.

What organic nutrients do you run? Since I've never grown before this is all trial and error for me. What conditions do you cure in? And thanks for the tip! I'll make sure to be patient with the curing.

I use the Roots Organic Potting Soil, and the Roots Organic Master Pack. Any complete fertilizer should work, but I'm happy with the results, the whole pack is relatively cheap, and I get a couple grows out of most of the stuff.

Ehh, for that harvest I dried over 5 days (low RH in basement) and went to jars. I did the opening the jars thing but I think maybe since I had it in a closed cabinet the air exchange wasn't as effective as I'd planned. So i think i dried out the tips, but didnt dry out the middle enough. I honestly thought I'd screwed that crop up, till I found that jar. Snowstorm #2.

I'm new too. First crop nearly died. Second was just too unbelievably weird to explain. The third one, I was getting the hang of it, and since then I've switch to the Roots stuff and haven't had a single issue.

That weird one... I had three Fast and Vast autos that ended up finishing looking like Dr. Grinspoon. These weird tiny clusters of a few buds.
