i put 2 germinated seeds in my aerogarden monday the 11th. my aerogarden is running on a 24hr timer, i have a figure 8 cord running the lights. im still using the machines lights. and im going to go get a 10" airstone and pump to help out my ag. i dont have any nutes, i thought i read start nutes after the seedlings 2 week mark.

any advice would be cool.

should i go ahead and buy some 100w cfl's and supplement the light. or just keep on trucking.

I'm in the same boat as you I just started today, but from my knowledge you need more lights.

i just woke up, and went to go check on my aerogarden. The machine seemed to be too quiet, when i looked closer no water was dripping thru the root zone. i took my pump off and cleaned the inside and out of it. It still wont turn on. so i need to buy a new pump. Any ideas where i can get one.

Oh, i switched my seedlings to 20/4 yesterday. and just that extra few hours seemed to increase the 1st set of leaves a bit more then usual. Its only been since monday, and one of my pods roots are starting to reach the water level, the other plant only has one little root in the water.

i need to find a replacement pump, nutrients, 10" airstone and aqua pump.

Do you think i should start my seedlings out as 20/4 instead of 24. Also if you want to be cheap like me go to wal-mart and buy a pump, 2 5' airstones and the clear tubing all under 10 bucks.

put it on 20/4, i had it on 16/8. and one day of difference and i could definitely tell that the little sprout was doing better.

check the aerogarden v.2 faq, its really bad ass.

my aerogarden water pump went out. i looked it up just now. 15.90$ after shipping to get to me.
yeah i have the tubing and i need to just buy an airstone and pump for it.

im down with cheap closet grow ops.

Lol yeah I read it, but it doesn't answer some of the questions I had. Also do you have the pH up/down stuff already or does it matter at this point since I just started.

the root structure of my plants is pretty long and looking all spidery. but because the pump went out on my ag. im having to water the peat moss the plant is anchored in at least once a day to keep it moist instead of all dried out. the plants are not sucking up water like they used to when i had the pump. the res level has basically dropped a quarter of an inch. is it because the plants do not have nutrients and they are just sucking the nutrients out of the distilled water i get from heb. what should i do.

i have an ag with a broken pump, no nutrients. and 2 plants about 5 inches tall. with 2 nodes and the 3rd node is starting.
should i goto bed bath and beyond and buy aerogarden seed kit and use those nutrients or just tough it out and let em stay water fed. idk
im lost on what to do

The AG Website sell replacement pumps for 10bux... You honestly dont need it if the roots are touchin water. The drip system merely provides a path to the water for the root.

If you are beyond 2 weeks... flush out the rez add a fresh gallon of water and a full nute tab... thats what I do.

seriously read the guide, it has your answers. READ IT CAREFULLY.

Go to my 1st and 2nd Grows on my signature. I took very good pictures throughout the 1st grow and NOW the 2nd grow. It should answer your questions for sure.

You NEED pictures in here so people can see what you are talkin about.

Good Luck, man. Sounds like youll get it soon enuf.

thanks man,
both target and bed bath & beyond sell ag stuff in my area, i read your 1st ag grow and im almost finished with your 2nd grow journal.
i like the way you suspended your light hood. im going to follow that setup. i have some y splitters and ill pick up some cfls this week. my plants look little because of no nutrients or extra lighting.

your journals helped me understand some stuff

On one of my plants the new growth seems to be turning a light yellow color.
is this because there is no nutrients in the water?

i also emptied out my res and cleaned it and wiped it out and put in new water.

Before you go buy a pump what setting do you have it on anything other than salad greens it turns off with the internal timer.
Photos and a detailed background of what you have done help with questions.
Check my thread 6 weeks in we be kickn hard

i have a figure 8 cord ran to a non digital 24hr timer for my lights. then i have the timer plugged into a extension cord. the ag is plugged into the extension cord and the extension cord is plugged into the wall. the pump was working fine and then just last week b4 my birthday it stopped working. i took it apart following the aerogarden website and cleaned it. soaked it in hot water with a drop of dawn soap. i tried putting it back in the machine and trying all the plant types and it wouldnt work. the pump is set to 2. im not by my ag but its the 7 pod classic. the far left and far right are occupied. i have duct tape over the open exposed holes. the roots are reaching the bottom of the res. and i read a few threads about the ag and once the roots are in the res it seems the pump is not needed.

i got the ag for free and i have somehow lost the ag stock nutrients.

i thought about putting the pump power cord and the light cord plugged into the extension cord then running that thru the timer so the pump and light are only on when the timer is set to be on

the seedling were on 20/4 for 2 weeks. i switched it to 18/6 this is week one of that and now one of the plants is showing signs of yellowing on the new growth, and the other plant is doing fine. i need to get ahold of some nutes

ill try and find a camera to use.

yeah they are looking like they need a good feed... you should go out and get yourself a PH tester even if it is just a drop test, and a good 2 part if not 3 part nutrient do some research and you will be flying...

IMHO thought if your looking for anything descent in bud sizes you may want to scrap the light and get a Low watt HID light I see you have a relativly open area to work with CFL's just cant put out the same lumen per watt power that even a small HID can....

cheers kwaka

dude... that looks very good. The only you need is morelights and you need to cover those grow sponges with a lid or cover... you dont want light getting into the base through there

yeah ive been thinking about lights:

cfls, like running 3 light sockets with y adapters so i could run 6 cfls. go out and get 6500k for the veg cycle, then getting some 6 cfls in the 2700k range.

hid, do you know of a good system to use that would be good for veg and flower.

if i run the cfls i want to build a light structure similar to seemorebuds in buds for less. i have the book. its like day by day and he uses a system like the boards are connected by metal straps and then hung by wire thru hooks and i believe its suspended from the roof so he can lower and raise it. and because the straps are rigid i could bend it to my needs.

but i also saw someone using 2x2s and mounting 4 lights around the ag, with y adapters and cfls. and the light socket is on those clamps attached to the 2x2s

if i use hid, do you of a cheap good one to use to cover both the veg and flower.

im probably going to go to bed bath and beyond and buy another seed kit and use ag's nutrients.

im pretty broke, so the cheap grow is all im able to do right now.

any ideas on nutrients or light setups or threads i should read.

thanks guys
