my first grow not really sure what im doing

Ok i have 3 plants. 2 plants are 2 foot or more and one is no more than 16 inches tall. I germinated them all in a paper towel then placed them in dirt accordingly. Had them on 16 hours of light for about 3 months. Today is the first day of the 2nd week of flowering with lights at 12/12. I dont really know how to tell if they are male or female. Can anyone help me???

well the thing is, they arent really showing any sex characteristics at all.i was curious as to if they should be further along in this process?

If you want to know what sex your plant is. if every thing goes to plan, you shoud see your answer in a week or so. once you see small sacks on one of your ladies pull her immediately so that she does not pollenate your other girls.[/FONT]

you need close up photos of the nodes to be female or male. you cannot tell by a far away photo

however your plants are over stretched you need more light, and you need to repot into bigger pots . remove the tinfoil it will do nothing but burn your plants.
and please check your electrical looks a bit dangerous

I would either mylar the entire room or paint it white

i would also add a fan in therre and make sure youre not over watering your middle plant looks a tad droopy

Is that a mirror? Mirrors don't have a place in the grow room, the light they are designed to reflect is that which is most visible to the human eye, and absorb other spectrums, which is transfered into heat. How many watts are those cfls? It looks like you could use more light.

if you really want to maximize your light i would suggest replacing those mirrors with some cool shield bubble rolls which you can buy from your local hardware store by the foot and is very cheap. also i would definitely add a few more lights and keep them about 1 inch from the plant and like sunni said switch to bigger pots. if you can post close up pictures of your nodes then we will be able to help you determine the sex of your plant.

well i dont really have anymore lights i could put in there.i can get rid of the mirror i just thought that it would help reflect the light into different areas of the planr that it couldnt reach. also i have no bigger pots. i jyst wanted to see if i could grow and flower in this small space. i will post more upclose pics of the nodes to try to figure out what they are. also i only give them water. no other horomones or anything like that. just dirt and water. wanted to see if it could be done in a more oldfashioned sense.you all have been very helpful so far and i appreciate it. i have 2 tube lights. one on each side. about 13 watts a piece. then i have a mixture of 4 small cfls and one big one then i also have 1 300 watt 120volt HID light. i dont know if it even helps my plants really. im gunna work on posting more pics for you all

ok so i believe the one in the center is a male. the ones on the ends have the little tiny white hairs and that middle one doesnt have any.

you guys were really helpful thank you very much. i thought i didnt have enough light but right now this is what i have to make do with. this was my first time trial run. just dirt and water. no chemicals. also with the lights, do i need more lumens? or just more light as in watts?

This is what u need a minimum of

Vege - 100 Watts for the First Plant and 50 Watts additional for each plant after.
Flowering - 150 Watts for First Plant and 100 Watts additional for each plant after.

This is a good rule of thumb works for CFL and HID

what about cfls with a lower wattage like the 100 watt replacement bulbs that only use 26 watts but puts off 1650 lumens? would i need 3 of them for just one plant?

the droopy plant was infact a male. cut it down its gone have 2 ladies left. started germinating more seeds. im gunna grow them in 12/12 light. i need them to be shorter and with not enough light i think it will benefit better.

also i pull air from under my house through a couple layers of cloth to act as a screen. its pulled in by a duct fan it pushes air through the cieling and into the area between my roof and my cieling. its the middle of winter though its been unusually warm lately, is this safe for the plants?

For Vege. u need 4x23watts (92 Watts) or 4x26watts (104 Watts) for first plant and 2x23watts (46 Watts) or 2x26watts (52 Watts) for additional plants.
For Flowering u need 6x23watts (138 Watts) or 6x26watts (156 Watts) for first plant and 4x23watts (92 Watts) or 4x26watts (104 Watts) for additional plants.

I use 12x26watts cfl (312 Watts) for Flowering 1 plant and for 2 plants i add another 4x26watts (104 Watts).
And my vege gets half the total watts so 156watt for 1 plant. and 2x26watts (46) for additional plants.

REMEMBER I HAVE MORE LIGHTS DUE TO I CAN VENT IT... THE ABOVE RULE IS FOR MINIMUM LIGHT NEEDED TO HAVE A DECENT GROW.

55F OR LESS VERY BAD
62-69F GOOD FOR LIGHTS OFF <<< My Lights off temp is 66F
70-76F GOOD <<<<<<<<This is my temp range 74-77F
77-85F OPTIMUM
85-90F ALRIGHT BUT TOO HOT
91F+ HEAT STRESS
