My first grow...real slow

So, I thought I'd post some pics of my current grow. I actually started this at the end of September with pretty much no equipment or experience. I started with six DNA Genetics Holy Grail Kush seeds, and two DNA Sour Kosher seeds. I only managed to get 5 of the 8 to germinate and one died as a seedling. My cat was successful in eating one other as I was fetching water for them leaving me with a grand total of three plants. Sadly, during the transplanting process, the labelling got screwed up and now I can't tell Holy Grail Kush from Sour Kosher.

Anyway, I decided to let them grow quite a bit and then took a bunch of clones. Then I waited even longer for them to "bounce back" before switching them to a 12/12 photo period. They were almost two and a half months old before they the switch to the 12/12 light schedule.
While I was muddling around with this, someone gave me some Crop King Revolver auto seeds. I got 3 of the 5 to germinate that time and all of them managed to evade my cat. I've gone into some detail about the autoflowers here: http://rollitup.org/t/revolver-from-crop-king-seeds.891182/ so I won't elaborate too much on them. Now the Revolvers are almost ready and the DNA mystery plants are coming along nicely.

So, here's some current pics:

The flowering tent...

DNA Mystery buds #1

DNA Mystery buds #2

DNA Mystery buds #3, I'm a little disappointed in this one's progress so far. It's always been the weakest of the three mystery plants.

I'm thinking Mystery Bud #1 is the Sour Kosher and Mystery Buds #'s 2 and 3 are the Holy Grail Kush. This is because #1's fan leaves have 11 leaves per, while #'s 2 and 3 have 9 leaves per. But that's just a guess.

Here's how the clones are doing now:

If you want to follow my clones progress, I've started a grow journal here: http://rollitup.org/t/2nd-grow-from-1st-grows-clones.894203/

Here's some pics of the Revolvers:

I put a 30X loupe in front of my phone's camera for some close ups:
Extreme close up!

Action shot close up!

SUPER DUPER LENS FLARE CLOSE UP!!! (oooooooh, just like the new Star Trek movies)

And as for the cat who ate one of the plants...I decided that I needed a way to remind myself, and anyone else who comes across him, what he really is:

So, there you have it. My first slow and feeble attempt at growing some green goodness.Hope you all enjoyed. :bigjoint:

Wow, looking amazing for your first grow there mate! As for cats, I heard that they love the taste and smell of trichomes so I would be extra careful now. :D How long have the plants been flowering so far?

Thanks! You must be right about the cats. I've had to buy a second spray bottle that I keep beside the laundry room sink. When the cat starts making his moves into the tent (he's very stealthy) I nail him with a squirt of water. I don't even have to hit him anymore, just the sound sends him running!

As for the plants, the autoflowers started flowering at about 4 weeks and they're at about 9 weeks now. I actually just got back from the store getting string and hooks for drying. The Mystery buds have been on the 12/12 photo period for about 4 weeks now, so they still have a while to go.

So, I am not a smart man. I've been waiting to take the Revolvers out of the flowering tent before I rearrange it to make room for the clones to get in there. After all, my veg area is getting more than a bit crowded. I still have some of those poor clones in small pots and some are still in beer cups!

Only this morning, while laying in bed, did it occur to me: the Revolvers are both short and autoflowers! So I jumped out of bed took the Revolvers out of the tent and re-arranged it to make a bunch of room in the centre, and took five plants from the veg area and put them in there. Then I re-arranged the veg area a bit and put the Revolvers in there. Ta-da! I now have five more plants that should start flowering soon and the revolvers are getting a few extra hours (albeit under a MH lamp instead of an HPS lamp) and I have more room in the veg area to transplant some of them into larger pots!

Five! Five more marijuana plants Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! (I just made you read that in The Counts voice)

Three! Three autoflowering marijuana plants in the veg area! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! (You tried real hard not to read that the Counts voice this time...but part of you, waaaay in the back of your head, still did)

While trimming, I accidentally chopped off a tiny little bud nugget. I thought "what could it hurt to stuff it in my vaporizer?" It did not hurt a thing, in fact....it was great! I can't wait until they're dried and cured!

Just had a look in the tent...um, wow!

This is a side view; it's one plant and it's about 3 feet wide. The main stem was tied down and is the shoot that is the second from the left...

The three mystery plants are filling in quite well. Now that they are flowering I have a pretty good guess which is which.

Here's the whole tent. Clones on the inside; older, flowering plants around the edges.:
flowering

I'm pretty sure this is the Holy Grail Kush, finally starting to fill in after about 5 weeks of 12/12:

And I think that this is the Sour Kosher, starting to fill in nicely:

So, here's another update: The Sour Kosher plant is coming along quite well, but I have concerns about the two Holy Grail Kush plants. The trichome production is either much less, or much slower than the SK. If anyone has any experience with the HGK, please weigh in.

The Sour Kosher is doing very well; very heavy production!

The buds are frosty as...well...I don't know, something really cold?

This is going to be one sweet smoke!

The Holy Grail Kush plants, on the other hand...not as heavy with the production.

There are some more bunches, but none of them are near the size of the Sour Koshers. But they're not that bad either.

They don't seem to be getting as frosty as the Sour Koshers

Though it may be that the leaves just aren't getting the trichomes as much as the buds.

Here's one under magnification:

And another...

Sounds good. For seedlings I use something called Kick Start by Grotek, it is specific for seedlings and clones. Once the seedlings get some true leaves is when I usually give them some.

My plants are about a week or two away from being harvested. The Sour Kosher looks like it'll be providing me with a lot of bud! Here's a pic from last week, this is from one plant:

So close I can almost taste it! Another week or so and I think I can start to harvest, I've had to tie some of these off because of their weight.

Sour Kosher

Some of these are pretty freakin' hefty!

Things are starting to look really frosty!

The close ups look good too...

And the Holy Grail Kush is starting to look good too!

The plant is looking good, in my opinion; though I am far from an expert. When it gets over a foot tall I'd start cycling it on a 12 hour on, 12 hour off period. What are your on/off times now? When you shift to a flowering photo period you might want to consider changing to a "warmer" coloured bulb.

What strain is it? Is it grown from a feminised seed or cutting? What kind of nutrients do you use?

Is your CFL specifically a grow light? If so, what colour temperature is it? How many bulds and what wattage? I think there is a good tutorial thread on CFLs, stickied in this forum: http://rollitup.org/f/cfl-fluorescent-lighting.75/

I'm happy to give any help that I can, but I'm just a newb myself and only one guy.

You should start a new thread and mention the points that I have asked about. That way you can get more people answering questions and more than my limited experience. You might also think about starting a grow journal, they can be quite helpful when it comes to remembering when you did things. I refer back to mine often

My CFL it s not for growing,it s just a simple light I guess.

Its warm white I guess

I'd definitely recommend getting a higher wattage CFL grow light then. Standard CFLs are pretty low wattage and not really meant for growing. For one plant you can get a 50 W or 100W CFL. That should help move things along nicely. You might also consider a T8 fluorescent grow light set up. A 2 foot T8 grow light costs about $40 and is about 40 - 50W. Two or three of them would be okay too. I have a couple of T8 Sun Blasters. One for cloning and one for my mother plant. Before you go spending a lot of cash, you might want to figure out if you have a boy or girl plant. It might be worth getting so high quality seeds if you are going to be getting into this.
