My First Journal....After Growing over 35 Years!

High pot-peeps, here will be my first journal on rollitup.org. I am no longer paranoid about growing; I ditched my wife and I hold an MMJ permit in an MMJ state . I used to grow outdoors in Hawaii starting from 1977. I no longer live there and now I am growing indoors which I find to be much better! One has so much more control of their crop as opposed to putting your babies outside. No more rip-offs or insect-plagued plants, plus, you get to control when you want your plants to bud-out. In Hawaii back in the 70's, there would be NO weed around in the summer months :-(. It sucked the big one!

I love growing indoors. I tried to do it in college, but there were no REAL grow lights to speak of. I tried miserably to grow in my dorm closet, but it didn't turn out. My roommate gave me these lavender-colored fluorescent bulbs that didn't do shit. That's all changed now .

My first indoor crop was a success. Back in 2008, I grew some MJ in the attic of my Atlanta home. It was a ton of work. I was battling temperature issues (winter) among other thing like fresh air. No one believed it could be done. After that, I knew I could be a good indoor grower.

I am now growing in a closet with 2 light systems from HTG; a 400w MH/HPS and a 600w MH/HPS. I just started to use CFL's for vegging in order to save on electric bills. I have a small fan blowing on the girls, and they get fresh air because I leave the bedroom window open. I have a few (indoor) grows under my belt, and I'll post up pictures of my previous grows.

Right now I have Pineapple Express seedlings that I got from G13-Attitude. I use Advance Nutrients soil, and all Fox Farm Nutes. Below are pics on my new grow.

Even an experienced grower of 35 years can get complacent and forget about the basics :wall: . 'Time to transplant and let the soil dry out between waterings.

After encountering yellowing leaves at the bottom of my seedlings, I took the advice of RIU and transplanted. They are now taking off! These pics were taken just a few days after the transplant. This is one hearty strain!! The transplant occurred on 6/18.

I'll sign up for this ride.. looking forward to the updates.
Very cool. Thanks, I won't disappoint! More pics to be added tonight. I just topped my babies yesterday, and planted a multi-variety of new beans for the next crop. It's all about diversification!

Late edit: Ok, ran into a snag, and I am pissed. My brother convinced my 87 year old mom that my "growing activity" will warrant "all kinds of criminal elements." FUCK. What a bunch of bull. I only grow for myself, and I have all the legal paperwork. I may have to kill this grow; mom is not seeing it my way, even with the airtight medical documentation. Well, for now I have the Pineapple Express in veg, and in germination: Gigabud, Purple Wreck, Afghan Kush x Skunk, Dinafem Auto Cheese, and Northern Lights x Big Bud Auto.

six plants should not warrant any kind of serious criminal activity.. unless you count these two guys as serious:

87 year old mom...how old are you to worry about what your mom says? bongsmilie Thats a thinker
The house is in her name.

Oh well, more pics today. I added the MH 400W in addition to the T5. 100% germ rate on the newest batch! Actually, ever since I started to "sweat" the new beans (the seeds in foam cup with soil + ziploc baggie over the cup + ~75*-80* F.) I have cracked them all.

I hate when this happens! I always start off with too many, then have to cull. The Pineapple Express is roaring down the tracks-exploding with growth :-o .

Dinafem Sweet Deep Grapefruit combines two genetic strains which are appreciated for their extremely sweet and fruity aroma: a strain of Blueberry which is already well-known as it has been used in other strains such as Blue Fruit or Blue Widow, and a clone selected from Grapefruit, a variety that is known for its fruity taste, theoretically to grapefruit, although it reminds more of a sweet fruit like pineapple. This variety is very much appreciated in Canada and US. Grapefruit is very well-known in America thanks to its taste of pineapple and sweet grapefruit, added to its strength, yield and its outdoor cultivating possibilities, which has greatly helped production in places like British Columbia, for example, where it has been used for commercial purposes. The a result of this combination is an Indica-Sativa hybrid developed to boost its aromatic qualities to a maximum and provide a sweet, fruity, slightly acid taste. Apart from these exceptional qualities in aroma or taste, this variety provides lush heavy harvests as its branches form very regularly, with short knots, which in turn give abundant flowering The dense structure of the flowers produces a greater number of buds than in plants with longer knots. Furthermore, the buds are very compact and numerous thick buds are produced on both the lower, longer branches as well as on the higher branches. This means that the calibre of the buds is relatively uniform, in other words, the smaller buds are larger than in most other varieties. This, and in the flowering speed, is where we can see the influence of the characteristic indica genotypes in this hybrid, whereas we can clearly see its sativa ascendancy in its aspect, in the psychoactive effects it produces -a physical and cerebral mixture- and in the complexity of its taste. Thus, apart from good hybrid vigour and bountiful flowering, which make it a highly productive and effective variety, we can appreciate its fruity taste of sweet berries. The “Blue” influence is noticeable in the colour some of the plants acquire, violet, purple, reddish, more intense in outdoor harvests due to the colder temperature, as well as in the vigorous harvest, which multiplies quickly. For this reason, it is important to maintain the height of the plants under control at all times in indoor cultivation. Its strength is fairly high, combined with noticeable quantities of CBD, therefore producing a mixed effect.

Reserva Privada Purple Wreck was created by crossing Urkel with the Train Wreck to improve the vigor of the notoriously slow growing Urkel. Reserva Privada's Purple Wreck is one of California's most sought after cannabis strains, allowing it to demand the highest price in any circle. The fruity and sweet aroma of the Urkel dominates the Purple Wreck but the large, purple tinted, buds are far more akin to the Train Wreck. The Purple Wreck is short, early flowering and produces dense nugs. Reserva Privada is a West Coast collective of breeders who until now had no place to showcase their creations. These breeders are all protected by medicinal laws within their states but still wanted to remain nameless. With our roots being in the West Coast, we came together to help bring the world these special strains under the name RESERVE PRIVADA. (Most of which you can't get anywhere else and are indigenous to the West Coast i.e. Heirloom strains etc.)

TGA Subcool Seeds Querkle is an Indica dominant hybrid and has a great taste and out of a 5 plant test run all 4 females turned a nice shade of purple with warm temps throughout. Our goal was to recreate the nice grape flavour but add some speed to the slow Urkle mom. The results are better than we expected and finding 2 keeper moms from the very small test run we did. Results from the field verify mild variation, good yields and fantastic flavour and colours. Best way to grow Querkle is vegged to a large bush or untopped in scrog. . Cannabis seeds flower in about 8 weeks. Yield is medium to heavy if extended veg time is given mainly due to bud density. High type is Indica head and grape taste make it total all day headstash. Querkle smells of grapes, fruit, berries, musty. Smoke out of a clean bong the flavour is just amazing and IMO better than Mom. Querkle has been featured in both Skunk and Hightimes magazine.

World of Seeds Medical Collection Afghan Kush x Skunk is known because of it's high therapeutic value and the density of it's beautiful glands and covered buds crossed with a predominant classic Indica : Skunk1 ( the first indica/sativa hybrid) shows us a real significant hybrid vigour increasing the production and the therapeutic value from its well known Afgan Kush. Afghan Kush X Skunk cannabis seeds can be cultivated both indoors and outdoors. It takes cannnabis seeds 55-60 days to flower and they can be harvested outdoors until the end of September. Afghan Kush X Skunk aroma is strong and highly medicinal. It has a fruity taste to the palate.
