My first setup... Am I good?

I've got 6 CFL bulbs... One long one in the background, and 6 that you can see. The temp. in there is 79.5 degrees F and the humidity is at 45%.

Feel free to leave comments and/or tips... I'd appreciate all the help I can get.

from what a guy on here told me that seedlings need to have the humidity needs to be 80-95% and also needs to be in a humidity dome and i would think i would take the rockwool out of the water but im a newbie too im just going off what people on riu saying

is it in rockwool? if it is did you condition the rockwool cube?? Humidity dome will help as previous poster noted. I also advise getting it out of that glass when it roots you dont want light hitting the roots.

When I start to see the roots I plan on transferring it into a pot of soil . It isn't in rockwool.. It's in this power plug, made by b'cuzz... I think it's condensed soil.

You might get away with that temp. 75 would be better tho.

Definately get the water out of that glass, that cube could probably do with a little squeeze too. It should not be waterlogged.

You will get away with the humidity thats fine. If you do put it in a dome, make sure there is a little gap so your seedling can breath. I prefer to take mine out of the propagator at that size.

Other than that, its all good.

what is the color temp on your cfl's and watts. never messed with rock wool but I know you don't want to let them soak in water. are you going to use soil I'm guessing so. I would shoot for about 50-60% humidity.

All the bulbs are 13W at 3000K ... I'm not sure what the long one is, it was layin around the house so I just stuck it up in there.

What he said. You don't need a dome, but you should just take it and plant it in the pot you're gonna grow it in now. Also, you can turn off all but two of those bulbs until it gets like 4-6 inches tall. That will bring the temp down a bit. When it gets a little bigger it will be able to handle the higher temperature better. Best of luck with your grow!:peace:

Alright so Antman.. I took the water out of the cup, gave my plug a little sqeeze and a bit of water came out. Not I just did what you said and turned all but two of the lights off... So in a few days when it gets to be about 4-6 inches tall, what ideal temp. should I have in the closet? It's around 80 now. Humidity is at 45.

And Antman, if I put it in the pot now.. .what should I do about watering? Should I moisten the soil before the transfer or what? I have a moisture gauge, what should that read?

I use those, they are called root riot where I am, they are the same as the B'cuzz ones tho I'm sure.

I prefer to see a little root growth before I put into soil, but if you want to be on the safe side put it in soil now. There is no real disadvantage to doing so, one main advantage is your medium wont dry out as quickly, so theres less chance of damaging your seedling.

What soil do you have?

I run twice the amount of water as the volume of soil and let it drain for half hour. This way I know I have no dry spots. Then just scoop out some soil, pop the pellet in, and cover it with about 1 cm of soil. Job Done.

Your temp. should be no higher than 80F without CO2. Your ideal temp. would be 70-75F for a seedling.

Whoooa there... is that water in that glass?!?!?! Chug that water out! Tryin to drown your little baby?

When using sprout cubes, add water from the upper surface of the cube. I'd say 1-2 bottle caps (regular coca-cola bottle size) per day. Keep a dripping pan under the cube. If there's a lot accumulating in the pan, add less water.

Get rid of the glass... glass, although not evident, absorbs and reflects light. In your case, that's not efficient.

79F is a bit hot, try reducing to 75-76F. If you can't, just keep under 80F. Your humidity is a bit low for a seedling, try misting some water (not directly on the leaves or sprouting cube, but next to them) or simply lay a bowl with water around there.

What soil you gonna be using? What strain is that? What are your night time temps?

Keep us posted.

this is what I have going right now.

I'm using Timberline premium top soil... I transferred the cube and seedling into a bigger pot of timberline already... the temp in there right now is about 78.5, I only have two bulbs on it right now.

I have NO idea what strain it is... I grabbed a few seeds from my sisters bag.. it wasn't anything really good, but it wasn't bad either.

My nighttime temp. will be the same as the daytime I guess.. I'm planning on leaving those lights on 24/7.. is that a good idea or do you reccomend I turn them off?

thanks again.
