This war is a monstrosity.

We were lied to all along. History and regional politics as well as past attempts at 'creating democracy' via prolonged aerial warfare dictate that such a mission could not but fail.

We've instituted sanctions on Iraq for over a decade now. Hundreds of thousands of children have died, even before the current war started, because of those sanctions. Of course the oppressed people of Iraq would be happy to have Saddam Hussein gone; but that they'd accept us as their liberators and welcome us with open hands? You've got to be kidding! To even try and pass that off is an affront to the good hard working intelligent people of this country.

--> -->It's about weapons of mass destruction.
It's about Saddam as a regional destabilizer.
It's about keeping Iran from bringing arms into Iraq.

It's about everything and anything the current administration and supporting pundits can blame it on in order to make it OK for the American people except the truth.

The truth being what so many high-ranking upper echelons of power people have said for so long now:

--> --> It's all about money, and oil, and power.

--> --> This was a power play, a massively planned strategy, to seize not only the oil of Iraq but also to create the backdrop for seizing the oil of Iran as well.

--> --> We all remember the Cheney energy task force.

Do you really think we'd take out Saddam only to give the country over to the Shiites who are and have been openly aligned with Iran?

--> --> Let's do that again.

--> --> The leaders and architects of this war took out Saddam, pushed a policy of de-Baathification in the government, and handed over the country to a Shiite leader openly aligned with supposedly one of our biggest enemies: Iran?

--> --> Why the hell has thousands of US troops been killed, billions and billions been spent? So an openly Iranian backed leader can control Iraq?

--> --> That is our policy? That's what's going on? Yeah right.

--> --> Meanwhile the first thing our 'provincial coalition government' did was to privatize the heck out of the country, making decisions in the first days of power that would have long lasting impact on Iraqi society.

--> --> Chaos was purposely created on so many levels to push a smoke screen onto what was really going on, what is really going on. The daily suicide bombs and sectarian battles were planned: they keep the heat up and the headlines focused on the violence while the long-lasting structural changes are daily implemented.

--> --> US and British corporations getting billions and billions in contracts.

--> --> It's a feeding frenzy for those connected to such things.

--> --> And barrels of oil are now priceless, and heck: who use to be on the Board of Directors of Chevron? And who use to run Halliburton? The very same people pushing these insane policies!

--> --> Good people of this country let it be known: war and chaos are big business! They are created where and when they shouldn't be created in order to benefit the few at the expense of millions.

--> --> It's been going on for decades and decades now and those that push it have long learned the importance of propaganda in maintaining its pre-eminent position.

--> --> Really, you can read about it with declassified documents and other blatant, explicit autobiographies by various world leaders.

--> --> We are being duped. We are being turned against each other, against immigrants, against the other political party, against liberals, against anyone trying to fight for justice in order to focus attention away from the real deal…

--> --> We are in a new Gilded Age, where those on top have infiltrated so thoroughly the halls of power that they've made the system work entirely hugely insanely for them, of course with a bit left over to keep us from revolting.

--> --> But those whose necks are under the spiked boots of oppression will lie placidly for only so long before yanking the leg away and rising to the ground in order to stand up and squarely engage in the fight.

--> --> They don't want you to know this, but we're seeing this fight in historic numbers at this very moment. Country after country in South and Central America are rising up. Communities across the US are working tirelessly to organize against unchecked corporate and state power. Over 20 million people attended the march against the War in Iraq across the world, making it the biggest mass movement against war ever in human history.

--> --> It's a good thing too, because leaders long intoxicated and use to a monopoly on power are encountering newly emboldened groups of other leaders who are more and more challenging our arbitrary and indiscriminate use of force around the globe.

--> --> We are slowly heading towards the next world war.

--> --> Meanwhile are polar ice caps are melting, and we're told that there could be no fish left in the sea in twenty years. We've lost much of our genetic diversity in seeds and animals and are soils are turning to salt and sand…

--> --> Civilization is a bus careening off a cliff with no breaks left and the signposts along the way marked 'progress, freedom, democracy.'

--> --> What other glorious path is left for us but to fight passionately for our dignity, for our children, for the dreams and visions of truly just and sustainable societies? What better use of our time? What better gift to give to the world? What better way to honor the millions of dead who got us here, who fought tirelessly to get us what freedoms we have?

--> --> Daily we must reject the monstrosity. Daily we must give face to the possibilities of the human potential.

--> --> Think about yourself, but also think bigger than just yourself.

--> --> All the yoga and enlightenment aren't going to help much, except maybe help you have perspective about the whole thing, when the bathtub you're sitting in goes up in napalm and flames.

--> --> Our world is going up in napalm and flames.

--> --> Let your response to this reality be how cool you really are! Be the way you judge your legacy and contribution to this world, this life, to what could be, to what is when people come together and truly work to find love, meaning, dignity, and mutual support.

How in the hell could anyone argue with this? You have more prose than me but we are on the same wavelength. I see so much division, and it is attributable to one thing "Greed". Without all the wannabees, the system would collapse. If the guy making 50K didn't want the dudes job making 70K, and so on up the ladder, maybe we could all get along (Rodney King), But money is God and God is hiding out. Peace is but a dream we once had, peace doesn't pay. I'm convinced it will take Divine intervention or we will exterminate the majority of life on the planet shortly. Hey, I'm old enough, I've lived a good life, seen the best of times. It's my grandkids and all the youth that I feel for.

peace pays. just not immediately, and not in the same manner ($) that war does. how unfortunate.

what the fuck is wrong with people that WANT war, instead of peace. and where is the voice of the country demanding impeachment of the war mongerers and abolishment of their hate filled war documents? even now, i say this while i sit at my computer and do nothing but vent.

very soon, our rights to speak against the war lovers will be taken away. then, a call for peace will be labeled a cry of terrorism.

there is no god. we cannot ask or hope for a invisible, imaginary omnipotent being to fix everything with a sweep of his majic wand. we must speak and fight for ourselves.

where to start...
