Perlite itself holds a lot of water. its usually called hempy where u do a mix of 70%perlite to 30% vermiculite (h20 retention). but since it holds enough on its own there is no point to add vermiculite.

the benefit of this over soil is that there arent any bugs, no ph fluctuations and reuseable, since it doenst hold nutrients there is no point to wash. this is basically a passive hydro system (wick).

I think I will try a 100 perlite grow. Seems like it has alot of benefits over soil/hydro. Plant looks beautiful.

U can either use a 2liter bottle or 2 gallon bucket. any bigger is pointless. with a decent veg i pulled 3oz of a 2 liter bottle.... the nutes used were cheap Gen. hydroponics maxi series dry... first time around was PHing to 6.0 after a few go arounds stopped PHing and never had any problems... u can start them out in soil and transplant right to ur perlite bucket.

do you got to use more nutes ? more often or higher PPm ?
u usually do a feed feed water but its totally up to u and how your plants are reacting. with the dry nutes depending with the size of the plant went from 1/2tsp all the way to 1tbsp per gallon.

ya, the dry are 15 bucks a pound for each... u really only need bloom but if u get both they will last u at least 2 years and thats with a constant rotation... i was sucked into the liquid route and organic route but each i feel are a waste unless the organic materials ur getting are free.... went simple for the last few and have been amazed by the results... no phING or anything the only i do check is ppms

I've been just giving her a spray of water each day, seems to be working just fine. If im busy i give her like 80ml of water for 2 days it holds water but also dries quick. I've been tearing weeds outta my yard and ripping out there roots and putting it in my water bottle for added growth

For nutes the perlite has a very small amount of nutes added in it and i add like a couple drops of bloom nutes every 3-4 days

also, of course theres holes on the bottom lol!
u dont want holes in the bottom.. u want "only 1 hole" 2-3 inchs up on the side of the pot to create a "reservoir" ... This creates your wick effect.. watering times doing this range from 1-5 days depending on climate of ur area. i've seen root balls at 1 month that rival soil vegs at 3-4...

welp i just looked and that certain bottle theres only one hole pretty much 1 and a half inches up the bottle so next time i will keep in mind to put that a little bit higher thanks.

my apologies for putting this in a "Aerogrow" thread it just feels like with how much air perlite allows its almost like a aero/hydro grow lol
