My homemade light/heat reflector with pics- cost: £6

Walking around B&Q I spotted a roll of shiny mirror like polystyrene, and thought it would be good in my grow cabinet. Its designed to be put behind radiators, to save energy by reflecting heat.

I came up with an idea to build a reflector for my light with it. I got some cardboard and made a frame:

Next I lined it with the reflective polystyrene sheet:

Like I done with my light, I ran strings through the top of the cabinet and attached them to it, so I can change the height of it.

Of course, there was a slight cock-up. It was weighted more on one side so it tipped. So, I taped some cardboard to the other side to make the weight equal:

Looking under it, the light is being distributed a lot more evenly and more is focused on my plants now. Also, there is more heat being bounced back to my plants, bonus!

Here are some pics of the finished article, they look dark and crap but I assure you it is doing its job well, I just don't think my camera phone likes taking pictures of fluorescent lights :p

So what do you guys think? Not the most elegant solution I know, but I'm happy with the results!

keep the # to the fire house handy..............
Its not THAT hot lol. Just warmish, but the cardboard isn't because the polystyrene stuff is doing what its supposed to, radiators get a lot hotter than my light and so far my radiators haven't set on fire lol
