So im done with my 66 plant hydro top feed grow. I did in my apartment,

I have a 3 bedroom house now with a decent sized garage. 20 fett by 22 feet is I believe the size. You can see the pics below.

I have never done my own Soil garden so i was thinking of a few different options. I live on the west coast and summer is hitting soon so I might run less lights to start. between 10 and 20 600 watt lights. Do to heat issues.

For soil I was going to Veg for 3-4 weeks in 1 gallon pots. Then move to 7 or 10 gallon pots for flower. under 15 lights in rows of 5 each. I think I can fit 84 plants in 7 gallon pots.

With ten lights im thinking about 48-56 plants in 7-10 gallon pots.

I'm basing this off my friends set up, that I helped him with, it was 63 plants uner 16 600 watt HPS lights, and he would veg for 3 weeks and get 13-14 pounds. Goinf rom 1gallon for veg to 10 gallon for flower.

Or should I do 3 banks like my hydo top fee set up, 255 plants veg for only 10 days ect...... just look at my other thread to get an idea.

https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/44215-66-site-hydro-started-opinions.html

I want to know how to maximize this room in a Soil grow.

Or should I just stick to my hydro units? I'm pretty set on trying Soil for the first time though.

Thanks, Comercial.

PS. This time I promise to log everything down in detail.....

Also please try to give me ideas on maximizing the room, and not post about me being woried about my landlord or my power bill being "too high".

Thanks, again....

Bump no one wants to have a say on a fairly big Soil or Hydro grow set up between 50-and 300 plants?

Any ideas.

:hump:oh, yeah!!! Just got up to see you got up a new thread going on!!! And I am quite sure the rest of the gang will be right along with more ideas than you can imagine!
I really like the fact you are going to try a soil run! What soil do you plan to use, or what receipe? The moving it up to 7 gallon pots will really allow you to get the most out of your plants, I would think<----they could handle some size and bulk!! I would think with that amount of pots that it would be a big help to still run some sort of drip system, even if you need to run it manually. And if you decide to go with the bigger quanity of plants you might want to consider getting square pots to tighten them up a bit(as I am sure you know...).

Anyway, I 'd love to keep a chair here for this one, that's for sure! gotta run to the HD for myself as my vent system needs some reinforcement brackets....

........oh, and I see now that your starting from scratch in the garage....is it all insulated??<---lid and all?? And do you plan to build and insulate walls for the garage doors??<---all in thinking of your heat issue....... and can you vent it all into the attic of the house?
What are your plans with that?
And do you have a plan to divide up the power off the panel with some 20's or 60's?

It's 5 o'clock somewhere

Just finished your other thread. Very impressive. I will be watching as I have grown in soil and will probably stick to it. You didn't say what strain you were thinking of growing. I don't have alot of info or suggestions on an operation that size but I will definately be watching...... Good luck....

Yo Commercial Fuck the soil & put like three-four aero units in there like the last grow. :peace:
Maybe next time...dude. I'm pretty set on Soil being that I have never even grown 1 plant in soil.

Might not make as much, but next round back to hydro for sure.

Thanks....

You guys have any idea's on how i should deal with this garage door. I cut wood for the 3 windows, but then noticed the bottom is pretty flimsy wood.

So I may have to But a big piece for the bottom of the garage door, or just build a big wood box around the whole thing, and obviously bolt it to the permanently shut.

Thanks...

.......thinkin' I'd box those doors in with a 2x4 frame and OSB cover and insulate the void.....you could pretty much use const. adhesive for your lower plate and probobly some brackets around the rest for easy removal when your done, if that's of concern. Insulating the void may help moderate your temps better as well as dampen sound if you need more stealth......

So what are you planning on for your soil??

Hey, Sounds like your going to have some fun.

This my 2 cent and it's proabably not worth much, but.

If I was setting up a larg grow, I would go with what I know works. If I wanted to try something new, I would alot 10% of the grow to expermenting.

So in your case, I would grow 80% to 90% of my plants in a system I know will work and the rest, I would experment with diffent methods.

But Thats just me.

Looking forward to watching your grow.

yes i would go for this idea build a stud partition wall behind the door fill the void with rock wool or in uk we use kingspan insulating slabs very good for noise reduction. fill any gaps with expanding foam for total black out. this is just what I would do have a look at the links to see what I mean

how to buid a partition wall:joist centres

loving your threads, im inspired for sure. I get scared just running my 1000 and two or three 600s. I just managed to turn off my furnace though so maybe i can add some more. How did the soil moms produce compared to your hydro last time?

i agree stay with what you know even though soil is simple hydro is fast
Hydro is fast, but plants still finish at about the same time from the point of flower. And I know the stick to what I know, but I helped my friend with his soil grow and he had 20 600 watt HPS and 70 plants in 10 gallon pots on one of his grows. So I do have some experience, that i have not let be known.
