My New Hydro Shop

Hello again I have decided that I want to start a career in hydro, I want to open a hydro/gardening store. I feel it would be profitable since there is not another hydro shop for 250 miles and that's the only other one in my state. How can I open a shop I don't have the money to go out and buy all the equipment and a store. What steps will I have to go through to open the shop, and where can I get the equipment at wholesale prices?

I'm just sayin serious people usually don't wake up one day and say "I think I'm going to open up a store". They usually have some money saved away.

Um, get yourself a business license, a bank loan, lease a storefront, and then contact the manufacturers whose products you want to carry?

Basically, if you have to ask a bunch of potheads how to open a business, you probably won't be able to pull it off.

Actually you need to contact the manufacturers first before any money is spent on a storefront......Step 1 is always business plan....Working through a good business plan will lead you in the right direction.....And you will need to know where to get your products and how much you are going to be paying for them. Also need marketing strategies, loan repayment, all of it.
Owning your own business is by far the most rewarding careers but be warned it is a shit tonne of work......100 hours a week is not uncommon.
Good luck

Well when did I say I was going to open it? I'm 18 at the moment there's no way I could even get a loan its called planning, I'm trying to do this within 5 years not immediately.

I plan on carrying just about everything that a grower could ever want, I think the majority of business will be web based.

You would be surprised at the amount of collective knowledge that RIU has, I have complete faith in RIU and would be happy to ask for advice.

dude you need to develop a business plan to be taken suriously. Do you have a model? A mission statement? I would go to the book store and buy a book on small business development and forming an LLC to protect your private assets. After you develop an air tight plan, take it to finance. How is your credit? most suppliers want a minimum bulk purchase or at leaste good credit and trade references before they will cut you GOOD deals. I went through the same thing with an online business i started. solid model but i could not get venders to get me a break on supplies. The store front is by far the essayist after the plan and financing...those are a dime a dozen

When you come to a figure that you think you need to start......double it or even treble that figure. Thats my advice. Take it from someone who knows.lol

In a year I hope to have an online store, and after 2-3 years a full store.
An online store is really easy to do. I build websites for a living, eCommerce sites aren't too difficult to do.
You can do "drop shipping", so you don't need any kind of inventory.

It's all easier said than done, but it is not impossible, and it can be done. First thing with an online store, is
having a great looking website. Second is making sure people that would be interested in your product, making
sure they know your site exists.

Yeah I figured an online store would be easier not having to deal with the entire store, and I should be able to manage it myself. Yes a great looking website is important same with the advertisement, I will post a sample to the site as I create it.
