My Next Light? 400 MH/HPS vs 430 HPS

I am wrapping up my 1st grow with a 300Watt LED that has not done as well as I had imagned so I am looking to get a 400Watt HPS and run them side by side but my question is weather I should go into the direction of a 400 Watt switchable light so I can run Vegg into MH and flower into HPS or just buy a 430 Watt HPS?

I've read that the 430 Watt has more of a blue spectrum and was wondering if just the 430 HPS is a better option than the MH/HPS set up. Is there anyone who has used both and can give me specific well thought out answers to help me make my decision.

Some ballasts will allow you to run HPS and MH bulbs. You can use dual spectrum bulbs in these also. You can buy a HPS ballast and use the dual spectrum bulb in it, and you won't need a MH. So you just need to decide whether you want to be able to choose between MH, HPS and dual spec, or simply HPS and dual spec.

I could be wrong, but I think the 430 watt dual spec bulbs fit into a normal 400 watt ballast. I don't think you need a 430 watt ballast to run them, in fact I've never heard of a 430 watt ballast.

Get a phillips retro 330w ceramic metal halide for hps ballast. Its a hps and mh bulb in one, burns cooler then reg mh or hps bulbs (dropped my temps over 5 degrees), and can be used for flower. U can also run this bulb in a open fixture unlike most mh bulbs. Im very happy with this bulb. New technology everyone must try
