My Plant (ghetto, CFL, closet, first time)

Don't worry about deformed leaves at this point. As soon as it begins to grow faster it will straighten itself out. You'll probably end up cutting off those leaves you have now once the plant gets bigger anyway.

Ok so here are some updates. Im still too broke to afford decent soil but she is comming along nicely. I added another CFL and she is growing like crazy now now. I really hope its a female. When will i be able to tell? And when to i know to start flowering or how long does it usually take?

there are a number of things you need to do...one, you don't have the right cfls...those are 2700-4100k bulbs...go get some 6500k cfls they should say "daylight" on them...walmart in a blue plastic package. get the 23-27watt ones...like at least 3 for now...you will need more later...i run 10 all together 6 27watt @ 2700k and 4 27watt @ 6500k for the full spectrum...but im also 3 weeks into flowering lol :)

but yea go get the right bulbs man and your straight...

I'm impressed, man. To be honest I didn't think you would make it very long with that soil but it looks to be growing pretty well. Three nodes now! You'll find that the bigger the plant gets, the faster it grows. That's why the beginning is the hardest IMO. The whiter CFLs will make veg growth a bit quicker. You can flower any time but the plant will double in size during flower so I would take the maximum height you want it to be and flower when it is half that size.

Yeh im pretty excited myself about this plant. Its growing better than I expected, I guess the 4 lights are working perfect. I hope im one of those who people just get lucky and scores outta this one. Im excited to start flowering and discover the sex. Ill keep you posted around the 3 week mark and try to do it weekly..so far my other seeds have yet to germinate after 2 weeks :( I got more comming anyway. PEACE!

hard to say about indica or sativa this early, best indicators are the broadness of your leaves.

You will have to wait till you flower before you can sex, maybe 5-12 days into flowering, post some pics, im sure lots of people here will help you tell whether or not you scored a female.

You can start flowering whenever you like, depends how much vertical height you have to play around with, expect to double your height + or - depending on the strain and various other enviromental factors. Personally, on your first grow, I would flower at 8 inches or so as it should just be considered a learning curve anyways.

Honestly, its freezing in my closet so i think its indica. Its like barely 60 in there, isnt indica more colder climate?

I'd say save your money for a couple weeks and drop $60 or $80 on a 250watt or 400watt HPS. You don't even need a reflector. Just hang the bulb in the socket sideways in the middle of the room and make sure the walls are white or mylar. For veg I use twelve 26watt CFLs for six plants. That's two bulbs per plant and they're plenty bushy. I can post pics if you want. I don't think you need any more bulbs for veg (even if they're yellow) but should focus on flower instead. With a 400 watter above and those four CFLs on the sides, you would get some wicked buds. How much do really want to invest?

And 60 is bit too cold man. Make sure that is the absolute coldest it gets. 68-75 is best temp range for primo growth.

Them shooting up so fast prob means they streched. You want to keep the CFLs as close to your plants as possible. Some say about 2-3 inches away from the top of the leaves. Adjust the lights and put your hand above it. If it is too hot for your hand it is too hot for the plants.

Anyways, I highly respect ghetto grows (I am doing one myself at the moment since my outside crow got jacked =x) and I wish the best of luck to you.

Oh, check up on the GrowFAQ at the top left of the page. It will answer many of your questions. :peace:
