OK guys I'm running bagged super soil with water only( water goes through a small boy filter to remove chloramine) and some molasses later in flower. Everything is in 5 7 or 10 gal pots and I'm running Dr.who galactic jack qrazy train and 9lb hammer. Veg is a 4x4 tent with a card table in it to split levels. On top is a 400 wat mh and on the bottom is a 6 bulb t5. Generally 5 plants up top about 2 ft away from mh, and about the same amount plus clones in the bottom. I have a 6in hydro farm fan for exhaust mounted right near the mh. My temps are a bit high between 80 and 85 usually and thts with the 400 at 75% power. Humidity is stuck around 35. My question is what do all of the super soil experts think my problem may be? Should I go back to straight tap water? And I'm planning on getting a t5 8 bulb to replace the 400. Sound like solid solutions? Really appreciate the helps guys.

Where are you flowering??I would only use an hid for flowering..your temps are inhibiting growth and I can't see anything else that would cause growth to slow..

my opinion, lower the plant count or up the watts
also you didnt even give dimensions of the plants and age, whose to say they arent big...genetics will play a huge roll

I think more flourescents will you add light without adding heat maybe ditch the multi level idea imo that's not enough room for everything you have crammed in there..taking away air space raises your temperature..also age genetics will play a big part in speed

the problem is you have not given your girls a good home those temps are to high and that humidity is too low

Get your humidity up your temp down and they will grow. Environment is important!

A 400 watter at 75% power isn't that bright. I recommend ditching the double level idea and running that 400 HM at full power over a smaller number of plants. Your temps will be inline, airflow will be great, and your plants will be happy.

Plants are generally moving into the flower room between 15 and 20 in above soil level and and finishing around 30 in. The flower room is climate controlled and has co2 and is always at 73 and 40% rh. The light will b getting switched out I was hoping it was the heat considering I'm staying very close to subs methods. I really can't get rid of the split in the tent tho that is y I'm goin to just get the new t5 and see how things go from there. Thanks for all theadvice vguys I will let u kno how things turn out soon.

I'm not seeing your problem... The title of your thread says your plants "veg forever and don't get tht big". Then you say you are vegging to 15-20" and finishing at 30". That sounds reasonable enough. Are you wanting to grow bigger plants than that?

I will tell you that plants can (and should) be much closer than 2 feet away from a 400 watt MH, especially if it's turned down to 75%. A 400 watt MH at full power puts out about 35,000 lumens. So that's about 26,000 lumens at 75% power (less than this in reality; bulbs run less efficiently when they are dimmed down). In a 4x4 area, that's only about 1,600 lumens per square foot. Ideally, you want closer to 5,000 lumens per square foot for veg.

THIS is why your plants are vegging slowly. If you want to speed them up, you need to supply more light, or bring them closer to the lights you have. With your temps already too high, you can't safely move your plants closer to the light, or add more light, without frying them. I still recommend ditching the double stacked routine and running that 400 watter at full strength.

T5 lights are great for early veg, but in my opinion they do not penetrate deep enough to veg a plant that's more than about 12" tall. Go ahead and give it a try for yourself, if you must.

1. Temps - too high, bring them down between 72-76
2. Humidity - try and raise it another 15% at least.
3. Light - 400w is more for a 2x4, I'd say 600w MINIMUM unless you use your drip tray that came with the tent as a mylar wall splitter,
4. Nutes - nutes make a difference so look for holland grow veg, its cheap, like 15 bucks and most plants take to it well from what i've seen.

If money is a problem, go to your local lowes or home depot, buy an 6-8 inch inline fan for like less than $40 and some quick connects, just crimp the cables to a stripped computer cable you probably have lying in a box at your house somewhere and get as much air out of there as possible.
