my refrigerator grow box

05/13/2009 day 1- Grow box completed with a thermometer/humidity reader, 1 fan, 1 plant light and 3 cfl lights. Plant light stats unknown. Cfl lights are 6500K, 900 lumens apiece, 2700 lumens total for now. I purchased a Jiffy peat moss seed starter kit and started germinating 15 seeds. I started the grow box with all 4 lights on and noticed the temperature almost up to 100 degrees. I turned all but one cfl light off and turned the fan on low as germinating seeds do not need much light if any. Last I checked the temperature was down to 96 degrees. I would like it down to around 75 degrees, will check the temperature again later.

05/14/2009 day 2 - No change in plant activity. Temperature down to 92 degrees. Humidity at 50%. Really having problems with these temps.

05/15/2009 day 3 - I spent all day trying to figure out how to deal with my temperature issue. I put ventilation holes on the base of the fridge as well the back and a hole in the top. I put in a divider between the freezer section and the rest of the fridge to block any light from getting out of the hole I put into the top. I am hanging the lights from this and using the fridge shelves to raise and lower the plants as they grow. I started with the fan still on the very bottom of the fridge blowing up but it did not change the temperature. I put the fan in the freezer section blowing up hoping it would blow the hot air directly out as well as suck out any hot air from the bottom. Turning all lights off for today, will try again tomorrow. No change in plant activity.

05/16/2009 day 4 - I checked the beginning temperature in the morning. It read 60 degrees. I turned on all 3 cfl lights and started the fan. I went out to check them 2 hours later and the temperature read 72 degrees. Maybe the different position of the fan has worked, I can't see the lights getting much hotter than they already are, will check again later. Hopefully it won't be too much hotter, I have my first seed starting to sprout.

05/17/2009 day 5 - The lights have been on all night, the temperature this morning was 70 degrees. Yesterday the temperature didn't get hotter than 82. I was happy with that. I have 4 out of 15 seeds sprouted so far.

Half Baked.....Most of us can read really well but pictures that help describe what you are saying really works wonders and you'll get more replies. A page full of words does nothing to stimulate interest.

Here are a few pictures of the set up. The first picture is just the outside, a normal looking fridge. The second picture is the fridge opened up. You can see in the "freezer section", there isn't a whole lot of light coming up from the bottom section. The third picture is a close up of the freezer section, that is where I keep all my cords and the fan. The fourth picture is a closer look at the bottom part.
