My start off grow room!!!!

Hey guys, im a lil new to this site but i have been wondering around on here for countless hours reading stuff. I figured what the hell im always on here why not become a member! But anyways.. Im starting off with this little grow box i made. The fans are computer case fans that i picked up for $5 at a computer store, and the lights are 2 24" Wal-Mart flourescent grow lights and a 40w cfl on the top. Its working well for now but i just purchased a 400w hps and have been in the process of planning out a new box 5' tall 4' long. As soon as i get the other project up and going i will be posting new updates on this thread. Check out my grow box!

It's goin good so far.. I've been thinking about gettin a few more cfl's and just doin a cfl grow. I had a 400w hps ordered from BGH but i cancelled it considering i've been having a lil money situation. Just a quick question, when should i start flowering? I've heard they grow considerably during the flowering cycle. Is this true? and if so how much?

that one pot with soil in it and no seeds probally wont sprout just to let you know im sorry abou that you should loose the foil to by thw way you can flower at 6 inchs i would because one is already there and the other are all the up to 2 feet it just how big you want your babies or how much room you got

Thanks for the reply man. Is there any other material i can use to line the box with?? Haha yeah i kno the one wit just soil in it isnt gonna work. I did have a plant in it but for sum reason it just wasnt growing.. Does anyone know why some of them are growing quicker then the others?? Im gonna get a new box, hopefully 2day thats 3' by 3' and 4 ft tall. Should i flower yet or just let them go for a lil? Also, when's the best time for cloning?? Thanks everyone. I know sum will say u should've read shit before u post but i've been and didnt get the exact answers so i figured better be safe then sorry..

I've read Mylar and glossy white paint are two of the best reflective things to use to line a grow room/box with.
Are these seeds from a bag, are they from different mothers, are they all the same type, planted at the same time, in the same dirt, with the same ferts? Need more info to say why some are growing faster...
When you flower the plants are going to get 2-3 times the size they are when you start, so if room is a issue, you need to go now on the biggest one, the other don't look ready and will flower much longer if you start to try it now with them. I hear that after 4 or so nodes (when they start growing perpendicular to one another is when a plant is sexually mature, around 4 nodes is also when you should top to keep the size down or you could get away with cloning, but if you don't even know if the plants sex yet wait until you start to flower and find out who your girls are then clone from them and throw the little guys back into the vegative state.
PS ~ You do really need to read some shit before posting, if you looked you didn't look very hard at all and are being lazy. This info is ALL OVER the internet. Knowledge is your greatest weapon, study up and you'll have some boss weed to toke on, good luck buddy, keep growing.

Here are sum new update pics guys. The lil box isnt doin it anymore so i went ahead and got a big ass cabinet and made a pretty sweet light system with a "drug free school zone" sign. I will be putting the light and everything in tomorrow afternoon so i will have new pics tomorrow night with everything in it. My plan is to clone on top and veg on the left side and flower on the right.

Also, are those 6 lights all the lighting your going to use? and what kinda bulbs are you putting in there?

Get rid of the Mylar and go with Panda poly. It is opaque, no light escapes, black on one side and bright white on the other. The problem with Mylar and foil is hot spots and inconsistent reflectivity. Check out HTGsupply on ebay, they offer Panda poly at 6mils in varying size rolls if your local dealer doesn't carry it.

For now im goin to use 6 cfl's until i get this grow under my belt then im gonna get a hps for the flower and mh for veg. Thanks serapis i'll look into that. Also, i have a lil dilema. I have 5 plants going and i dont think i have enough room in my flower room, it is around 2 1/2 feet long and 2 ft wide. How many plants can i fit into this area? Is there any way i can keep them tall and skinny? Is is better to have a plany tall and skinny or short and bushy is terms of the amount of yeild? And when's the latest i can clone plants in the flowering stage?

you can fit four or maybe five 3 gal SQUARE pots, no more than four if you use normal pots.

most varieties will grow tall and skinny naturally.

you can pull clones at any time. however, it takes awhile for the clone to revert to veg before it starts growing

You CAN clone a couple of weeks into flowering, it can stress the plants and make em turn hermie though so watch out for balls appearing on your ladies! Also the clones can take longer to root as they need time to revert to their vegetative state.
If your limited on space and need to start flowering soon you may have no option so good luck!
Plants will grow towards their light source, this can be used to crudely train them, placing the lights above will make them grow upwards, at the sides to grow them outwards. Or just use this method https://www.rollitup.org/advanced-marijuana-cultivation/56976-advanced-lst-old-school-bonsai.html to train them in any direction and maximise the space you have.
A tall skinny plant can yeild as much as a short bushy one if it's well trained, but remember cfl has limited light penetration compared to HID, much over a foot tall and the lower leaves/buds won't get as much light if the bulbs are at the top. If you're only using 6 cfls to grow 5 plants, you don't want them to get very big as you won't be able to surround them with light very well.

Another problem with Mylar that I forget to mention is cleaning. If you spray your leaves to increase humidity, or give them a quick shot of nutrients, your going to get some on the Mylar. Mylar cannot be cleaned as easily as Panda Poly. Panda Poly is a 6 mil heavy duty plastic that cleans very easily and is perfect for light reflection. Unlike Mylar, you can also use the Panda Poly to make a grow room curtain with a shower rod and hooks.

why the fuck do people collect those mountain dew bottle you have in the 1st pic thats like the fifth time ive seen somebody collecting them and their always next to their big screen! i dont get it? its a pop bottle take it back to the store and get your $.10 back.

You're really asking a lot of that cutting to reverse to veg state and then produce roots. That seems to be advanced gardening. I am a noob, but I can see where that could open up a host of problems. Isn't it better to place mother back in veg state and wait 7-10 days before taking cuttings?

Cloning during flower is not a good practice....you have your original box and your new "big ass cabinet"?? should do a mum or two in the little box and set-up a small perpetual harvest s.o.g. in the "big ass cabinet".....

So can i just let em flower for a lil and if its a female throw it back in veg for a lil while and clone it then? Cuz im new to this and all i need is more problems haha.. But yeah i just got everything hooked up and runnin. I still need to get the ducting tomorrow and hook that up. Oh and i found a cuple nice 70 watt hps lights in lowes im going to pick up soon for flowering and im gonna throw sum daylight bulbs in those cfl's and just let that go for veg. Also i threw 2 daylight bulbs in the flower room cuz i thought maybe a lil bit of the full spectrum would be a lil better maybe. Haha im gonna get rid of that lil box as soon as i get the veg side goin and place the cab right next to my tv... Anyways here's the pics of the half completed project.
