My timer didnt turn the lights off on time.....

Well, my timer didn't turn the lights off at the time it was supposed to this morning. I just moved to 12/12 3 days ago and since the timer didn't go off the lights were on for 16 hours straight  . Anyone think this will cause me any trouble? I'm thinking about just giving it only 8 hours of dark today to try to keep it balanced and not having to repeatedly stress it out by changing cycles again.

Any suggestions?

Just keep it at 12/12, but invest in a decent timer so this doesn't keep happening.

For my 12/12 lights, I use a heavy duty mechanical time switch, no digital, nothing fancy. A water heater timer or outdoor lights timer will work well. Not something you use for Christmas tree lights.

Lol  I've discovered it was my fault. There's a very poorly placed button on the side and it slides up and down and I believe I may have bumped it. Either way the advice you gave was good. I think I'm going to buy a more straightforward timer with no extra buttons.

So, to get this straight, I had them going on at 6pm and going off at 6am but I didn't notice they were still on till about 10am. Are you saying I should leave them off a full 12 and just restart my whole cycle from 10pm-10am? Or should I just turn them back on at 6pm? Or even let the sit in the dark for 24? I know this is probably an idiotic question, I'm just wondering if there is any set method for this to cause as little stress as possible. Thanks again for the input.

+rep to both of you guys :bigjoint:

I hear that it's wise to always keep your lights on time the same when regarding changing light cycles. So if since the jump they've been getting lights on at 6pm then leave that the same. IMHO just set it to 12/12 6pm-6am like you had it, no excessive darkness, and all will be well! :D
