your yields wont be big ... 12/12 with artificial light is not enough time for the plant to absorb the light...

Remember plants work this way: It only grows to accommodate its light source...

IF you put a 15watt light for 1 plant.. it will only grow foliage and leaves/branches to meet the lights power... (which is only like 4-8 leaves) Because the plant believes thats all it needs to absorb its 15 watts of light..

Now for example.. the sun! it has a lot of radiation and power.. so 12 hours for a plant from the sun is enough and probebly even more than a 600watt HPS for 24 hours.

thats why 24 hours of light is best with artificial light.

^^^^youre supposed to start at 12/12 for sea of green, it actually makes some strains grow much faster

exactly... in SOG.. ur limiting growth! so for example the plant cant grow past a limit due to its restrictions but is getting the light source...it tries to meet the light source some how and it leads to FAST growth. Thats why kind of stressing plants by bending and twisting = stronger plants. THe second the plant senses it has a chance to make more leaves it will! thats why lollypopping is really good and pruning. IF one understands how a plant works... it is key best growth and results.

Think about it

Check what lights he used :)

Also look at most of the reports people did. 12/12 from seed works but you would need sstrong lights or else yields wont be nice.. but vegging 24hours and then switching works better.

blonddie07 is right - yield is a result of longer vegetative growth times. but the other points are valid.. the choice is quicker but less yields vs. slower but greater yields.

of course the amount of plants you have to maintain to keep a quick turn-around time requires more lighting (and everything else). It also can increase penalties if that is a concern.

like most things .. it depends.

Glad i read this thread. Im going to learn from your mistake. I am also starting my 1st grow using the 12/12 seed method... except i'm gonna veg for 2 weeks under 24hr HPS lighting, THEN use 12/12 for another 45-60 days CANT WAIT.

Well this is the only female out of the three and for all you who doubted me she is doing great and has a dozen bud spots. Here are some pics for you to see. My new ones I just started have been in veg for 2 weeks and now are going into 12/12 today. Just so I can see which is better! This one was potted 3/27/08!
